Today,I need new batteries so I can hear
Good morning journal, the time is 6:20am,I have been awake since 5:35am,when our fur babies woke me to tell me they needed to go outside. It is a very cold morning, not yet light, but the air is crisp and fresh, enabling me to breathe easily and with little effort outside,it feels glorious!. It must be very strange to a person who does not have COPD/Emphysema to try and understand how the simple act of breathing easily can lift the spirits of someone who struggles on a daily basis to do just that, breathe without the use of any aids, but this morning,I am able to,and it feels so good!. Today,my world is silent for now, later I will have to visit the hospital audiology department and pick up some fresh battery packs for my hearing aids,I have a little book where they record every time I get new batteries,if I forget the book,no batteries, rule number one today?,don't forget the book!. It is still a very surreal and awesome experience for me,being able to hear I mean, after living for so long in a world that was made audible by my ability to lip read,to actually hear someone speak rather than "read" what they say,is wonderful, yet I still continue to lip read if they are facing me,old habits do die hard.As always,my friends in this group continue to uplift me daily with their advice and comments,I am grateful beyond words for their love and concern,it truly does make a difference in my life, thank you so much you wonderful people.I saw my doctor on Wednesday last,he didn't think the seroquel was to blame for my high blood sugar count,he told me my sugar count had increased before I started taking it,so at this time,it is still a mystery. He has decided to follow John,my therapist's advice, and has given me a new prescription of quetiapine/seroquel.100milligrams once a day,in the evening before bed,I will start taking it when I finish my present dose of two tablets of fifty milligrams a day,I only have a couple left to take, let's hope the new dose will help with my tiredness during the day. It's also a standard release type of medication,an instant hit if you like, unlike the previous batch which were XL,extended release, where it was introduced into my system over a period of twenty four hours, hopefully it will help combat my fatigue as I should sleep deeply the whole night without waking as I do now.I must confess though,I love this time of the morning,it is quiet, even quieter if your deaf!,but it does give a man time to think and reflect, and it lets me get my day organized,at least in theory, before it actually begins for real. This morning,I am very calm and relaxed,I am able to breathe unaided even indoors, how good is that?,and my spirits are in an enviable state of contentment, and I am grateful that my voices are silent for now.It is at times like this, that I grasp every good feeling with an intensity that a normal person in good health would not understand, because for me,feeling relatively healthy is not a normal daily feeling;so when I do feel good,it is a feeling I treasure beyond price. Now journal,I shall bask in my good feeling,I will depart from here to my trusty old armchair, and savor the goodness of the morning, until next time, may the good Lord walk with us both.

Hi, Scott! I\'m back from Myrtle Beach and smiling over your wonderful post this morning. Don\'t you just love days like that? I pray it continues and only gets better. Hugs!
Scott, At long last I am kinda back, and will respond to many of your posts. I am always encouraged when I see positive thoughts and feelings in your posts and this days post was full of goodness. I can\'t imagine a world where I couldn\'t hear, and to be depended of others to sometimes be my ears, your ability to read lips is wonderful and has and will continue to serve you. But I know the ability to hear the silence is a blessing also. Please take care. -- Bill
