Today Begins A New Year
Today is our 14th anniversary. We are trying to figure out where the years have gone. we are celebrating in Cancun, Mx next week. My husband is hoping that it will give me some time from my pain. He knows it will not take my pain away but some time for rest. I know that at times not right now but he has been so worried about me and now has started reading books trying to figure out what he can say or do to make it easier. For you who do not know he is Ken's stepdad, but like a real dad to him. Ken's kids always called him Grandpa cause their real grandpa never came around and that hurt them and it hurt Ken so much. But at least they had my husband after he and I married and he treats my kids and grandkids and greatgrandkids like his own. That is a wonderful trait for a step-parent to have.
He was with me all the way till the end with Ken. They had a lot in common. Ken loved Star Trex ans Sci-Fi, That last day with Ken in ICU, he leaned over and whispered something in Ken's ear. He later shared it with me. He told him he loved him and wished he didn't have to go, but save him a seat so when he joins him again in Heaven they will watch the newest Star trex shows. So Ken we know your saying Fred a seat.
Ken is a big part in my husband becoming a christian. Ken never missed church until the end. so when we would visit, we would go to church with them. Mostly, it during the time that they lived in Florida. Ken would encourage him but never push him. Ken showed him by example what it meant to be a Christian man.
Several years of going to church with them on our visits, one day my husband asked if I wanted to try stating back to my church. That next Sunday we started and have been going ever since. That was in 2004 so he is still going strong. Not only has it given him eternal life with our God but it has helped our marriage so much.
But I love this man through thick or thin. And we have gone through a lot in the years together from about anything you could think of yet we took our marriage vows and we stayed and worked things out. Yesterday I told him just think in 6 years we will have made 20 years. Oh and we will be OLD. He laughed and said yep your right.
Ken and Kim were married 27 1/2 years when Ken went to Heaven. They married at 18 and they would still be together for their 50th if Ken had not left early for Heaven. Isn''t it wonderful with so much divorce that their are those ones who stay together through thick and thin. Such love they had.
Ken, just wanted to remind you that today is our anniversary Fred and I and I know if you could you would call and wish us a happy day. I love you son. Tell Jesus I said Hi and can't wait till I see all of you one day. Love mom
P.S. Found a beautiful two heart necklace from my hubby this morning. How sweet!
