today and more

Well, Tuesday Mom decided that she was not going to take her meds again.  These are the ones that are supposed to keep her comfortable.  She insisted that she be sent to the hospital and, under the Patient's Rights, they complied.  I met her there to be certain that they didn't use the paddles on her again.  That is something that she has always feared and did not want.  Also one of the reasons she had her DNR prepared in the first place.  We know that on her last visit that had her in ICU, the paddles were used.  Only thing is that we don't know if it was done by the EMT in the ambulence, or at the ER.  Of course, nobody is owning up for it.  Anyway, the heart enzymes were elevated again, as were her kidney numbers.  They doped her up pretty much with pain killers, slapped a nitro patch on her and sent her back.  She is so disoriented these days.  I can't imagine why!!! To make things even easier on me, that "person" who calles herself the business office manager called to harass me on the old bill again.  The only problem is that it took her about 8 months to get that bill to Medicare so they could deny it.  That denial came on the Saturday before hubby's surgery.  So now I have to submitt it to Blue Cross if they will still deal with it from April, 2008.  I've a mind to send her a copy of the "Fair Bill Collections" rules from the FTC.  She has no right to talk to me or any other person dealing with her the way she does.  Actually, I told her that, as I had said at least twice before, I would not engage in a screaming match with her.  She continued attempting to be assertive.  So I reminded her of what I had just said and added "no more of this and I don't want any further telephone conversations with you about it.  Thank you for calling and have a nice day.  This conversation is now being terminated."  and hung up the phone.  Sad to say:  That really felt good.  Hanging up on people is simply not something I normally do but this time it really really felt good. Hubby is doing ok, but slowly.  The last doctor visit we were told that his recuperation will probably take longer since it was complicated by his emphysema - it could take up to a whole year.  But the good news there is that we have that hope of recovery with him.  We didn't have it before. Faith keeps us going when everything else fails.  We need to be reminded, when people like that person at the business office start in, God tells us in His word "to avoid foolish controversies."  Hang on to that verse and take control when those controversies begin.  Life really feels better by not allowing any of that. I'm starting to ramble so will say good nite.

You have done so well. I know it is so hard for you right now but I agree that the lady has no right to act the way she is. All you are doing is hopefully saving other people to have to suffer from her attitude. You are so strong and and I am glad the lord is helping you through this. It has got to be awful. Please know I\'m praying for you and whenever you want to vent or write to me I am here for you. I know we haven\'t known eachother long and building a friendship on the internet is new to me. I just want you to know I\'m here for you if you need someone to listen. Wishing and praying for the best for you and your family. Love you. God Bless. Love Cris
