To my Angel baby on your funeral
To my angel baby…
It’s really hard for me to stand here and say a few words for you, but you had such a short time with us that I could not think of anyone better to do this than mommy.
It was a shock to us to find out that we were expecting you, but it did not take long for us to get used to the idea of having you around. I got so excited to have a blessing like you on the way and could not wait to meet you around New Year’s Day.
When complications in the pregnancy arose, I went out of my way to try and keep you safe. I never thought I would stand here today and say goodbye to you.
The day you had to be born for your own health was the scariest day of my life. I knew the risks and challenges of the road ahead of your untimely birth, but never did it cross my mind that I would have to stand here and say goodbye to you.
I knew you were in good hands and they will help you grow big and strong. Even after being told that you were a really sick little boy - I strongly believed that you will fight and win and come home. And fight you did. You were the strongest and bravest little boy that I have even known in my life. I respect and admire you so much for what you have endured in your short little life.
Only after mommy and daddy realized and came to terms with how hard it is to fight and told you that it was okay to let go if it hurts too much, did you finally give in and went home – not home to me like I have dreamed, but at least to a home where you weren’t suffering.
It saddens me…
That your life had barely began, that you never got to play in the sun, that you never got to do all you could have done.
But we love you enough for a life-time.
It saddens me…
That you never got to see all this world holds – not even the smiling faces of all your loving family.
But we love you enough for a life-time.
It saddens me…
That I never got to hold your hand, never got to hear you laugh and play.
But I will love you for a life-time.
I am grateful that…
You never had to endure sadness and tears.
And that you will never suffer sorrowing years.
You had no betrayal, no anger, no hatred, and no fear.
Just love, only love in your little life-time.

Just love, only love in your little life-time... Oh, how those words resonate for me and you are honoring your powerful healer, Alex, with such tenderness and LOVE.
Hand in hand and Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
Thank you. I really thought it was going to be hard to wright, but it just flew. I thought it would have been so hard to speak it aloud but I managed. Think it helped a lot that I was just handed a mic while sitting and I just pretended I was alone. ButI also felt in my heart that It was one of the last things I could do for him and that I was not aloud to let him down. Felt like I already let him down for not managing to keep him safe.
Please... you kept him safe within you as long as you could...
I know my Jenn is keeping your Alex safe for now, she loves babies.
tight hugs, MaryLou
