To Honor All Canadian & American Soldiers
Just wanted to share this with any friends who might happen to check out my journal. A few days ago I started to get a thought that just kept nagging at me & would not go away, that being that I felt I had to do something on November 11th. I had to find a way to reach out to all our soldiers from all wars, somehow, some way. I then happened to notice the poppy I had bought sitting on the kitchen table as I'd taken it off one jacket to put on whatever other one I would wear. It then dawned on me. I had to go to the nearby military cemetary & place my poppy on the grave of someone's father, brother, husband, nephew, etc. etc. So this afternoon I went to the cemetary & just spent some time walking the rows & noting names, dates & such. I purposefully picked a corner that seemed very lonely, you could tell somehow that no one had been around that area. All those poor souls, it literally felt so very lonely. The dates on some of them went back to a birthdate of the turn of the century. The area I was in was mostly WW II. I came across a random grave that for some reason it felt like the one to give my poppy to. I wedged it in the base of the stone & gave a moments silence. As I turned to walk back I said a very brief sort of 4 line prayer for all of them & when I was at the outside of all the graves I stopped, turned back to them, saluted them & then blew them all a kiss. It had such a beautiful wonderful yet strange effect on me. The only thing I know for sure is that I'll be back there next year with more then one poppy & a bit longer prayer for them. I truly hope it made all their souls that much happier today.
