To be a middle-aged woman

Is to be invisible.
Is to be suddenly confident.
or suddenly wiped out.
by a rare middle aged woman syndrome
where docs don't care.
get out of here!
no treatment, no cure
no research, just fear
i may show up at your office
and you'll have to find creative ways to get rid of me
send her to a horrid physical therapist
who offers up explanations cooly, slyly
you're not dizzy, you're just scared
you're not dizzy, you are stressed
nevermind, that i'm not dizzy, i'm swaying
nevermind, i remind her, i'm not looking to be dizzy
dizzy finds me.
when i walk, when i lie down, whenever it wants
dizzy is there.
i ignore it
it doesn't go away
i try to tell it to leave
it may go temporily
but it pops on back
it pulls at me and tugs to bring me down with it
i'd go if i could but my body remains
atavar she insists
that will treat your dizzy
does nothing for my dizzy
but in her mind -- it's all in my head
and it is... but not for the reasons she gives
