I haven't journaled in awhile so thought I'd touch base with you all.
Northern white faced hornet's nests are selling for an average of $20 on ebay. The bigger they are, the more they are worth.
I saw one growing on one of my neighbor's shed's over the summer and asked him if I could have it so of course he said yes. Told him I would be back after the first frost, when the bees are gone. Climbed up a step ladder and carefully pulled it off from under the eves, took it home, listed it and it sold within 2 days. It wasn't very big, about 6 inches tall by 6 inches wide. It was the smallest one I ever sold, so it surprised me when it sold so fast. I usually sell one or two per year. I don't actively look for them but if I hear of one, I will always put a claim on it. There are lots of these here in the north and now is the time to harvest them, before it snows.
I also make money doing surveys in my spare time. I don't get rich doing them, they don't pay very much at all but if I don't feel like doing anything productive, then I will check and see what's available at my survey sites.
As we get closer to Christmas, ebay is booming but amazon, not so much anymore......not like the old days, that's for sure.
Things are quiet around the house. Lately, I have seen some pretty yellow evening grosbeaks at my feeders. I have two pairs of cardinels which are uncommon, this far north, and lots of blue jays, morning doves and others, whose names I cannot recall.
It is supposed to snow tonite and tomorrow, then change to rain, making for messy roads but I don't have to go anywhere the rest of the week so no chance of putting myself in harm's way.
I have no fear of winter now that I have a new standby generator and my new neighbor will keep me plowed out, so I can sit back, and relax in front of my fake fireplace while sipping on a coffee or hot chocolate!.....I am so happy!

I take surveys with a college project that invited me and I make some small change....they give points per survey....10,000 =$10 in gift cards to choice of places....I had one last week to Lowes when I bought the sand paper for my chairs....sometimes I will not answer a question and they still pay me....things also do not always work out....yesterday I had chance at 8,000 point survey on lifestyles....I answered two questions and they eliminated me from the survey....what gender was I born with? Male what gender do I identify with today? Male....opps you do not qualify for this survey sorry sucker....LOL
it is called Amerispeaks.....they only give invitees surveys....

Awesome to make money on those nests! The one I saw on my relative's barn covered the entire second floor door. They can get really big!

@ mlr0853......You are right! I have a big, rocking, Lazy Boy that goes back and has the foot rest. I love it. I have a grounding mat on the arm of it that also functions as a pad for my computer mouse. The mat is plugged into the ground on the outlet behind my chair so I am always grounded. My blood pressure has gone down since I started using last spring and my mental and emotional outlook has improved dramatically.!
@ Mid.......As you described your neighbor's nest, it's probably worth at least a couple hundred or more! If one that size was growing on one of my sheds. I would be dooling watching the bees going in and out of it, working for free! :)
@ lilmissy7.......I totally agree with you. I don't feed the hummingbirds because I would have to buy a certain type of inverted sugar requiring a different type of feeder then what I currently use, but maybe someday I will buy one.
@ billwfriend.......I know what you mean. With one of mine, you have to qualify before you get an opportunity to do the survey and that usually requires me to anser a dozen questions or more just to find out. There were 3 surveys waiting for me this morning and they were each worth 75 points but I only qualified for one so that's the way it goes. I usually build up my points until I get $100 worth and then I cash them in. I made $300 so far this year between the 3 survey companies I do business with. On two of them, I had been building up points since last year so it takes a long time but they are not as active as the one that I have to keep qualifying for.. I only get surveys from them....maybe once a week or less.
Bob, happy that you are keeping busy. I see falcons and lots of different birds flying around. We do have bee hives but where they are, we cannot get to them. And they are protected by law to destroy them. I did surveys too but just gave up. I have a power recliner and I love it. Also an electric fireplace. Love it too. Hugs and stay safe
I never heard of a grounding mat before....how does it plug into the wall? if it has three prongs that would be grounded.....but then it would have electricity going to it....so does it have two dummy prongs then just the round grounding plug to go into outlet?

@ billwfriend If you buy it from the Earthing Institute, which is what I recommend since... https://earthinginstitute.net/......... they spent over a million on research and development.....it comes with a dummy plug, like you said, so you just plug it into the hole that's left which would be the ground, plus it comes with a tester to make sure your outlet is grounded......I love mine. My hand is always in contact with it when I am in my chair, so I am always in contact with the ground. You can also get some of the benefits, just by taking your shoes off outside but the studies have shown, the more, the better so I'm connected to mother earth every chance I get.
@ Atpeacemary I would prefer a real fire but am allergic to wood smoke.......My recliner has the stick that you pull on but I love it just the same. It's a lazy boy for a not so lazy man :)

Bob, so would I but I live in a condo. Sometimes I smell the wood burning around the area. Love it. As for an afghan, make one. My late father's cardiologist made one and he was so proud of it. Even though it was a bit lopsided. You tube will show you how to step by step hugs

@ Mid Thankyou, There's alot of information at the Earthing institute, and a book and about a half dozen documentery's about it but I think it should be considered as just one of many different things that can help us on our journey through life.
