time will tell..........

Okay - met with T's all surrounding, all encompassing support team today at school for a "what are we going to do to help him" meeting.  The people included his parents, principal, guidance counselor, counselor, caseworker, "tutor", and his probation officer.  Not all was bleak at the meeting - he's working in some areas and he's doing well but in others ...he shut down.  His chemistry teacher is awesome.  She has a lot of faith in him and refuses to give up now.  She says he still has a chance.  I highly doubt he will take advantage of it but it was still so kind of her to not write him off.  Anyway, he certainly needs some work to do if he wants to graduate.  And we are not even talking about on time, at this point.  Who knows if he will even entertain going back next year.  He says he will but that doesn't mean anything.  He will be turning 18 in July so - who knows?  Trying to be optimistic but I am not going to hold my breath.    Although T appears to be absolutely clean - the are some behaviors that still surface periodically, and the fact that the principal told us that a student "source" told him that T isn't as clean as he appears, obviously concerns me.  I had asked the principal if he knew what T had reportedly used and he said pot.  I had asked his support team how he can still test clean (like I always do) and they said kids have a way.  i talked to my physician friend, who is new to recovery himself, and he said that if T were using pot, it would definitely show up.  So the only thing T could be doing is using a friend's urine sample.  He always gets tested here at home and doesn't ever appear to have anything with him when he goes into our 1/2 bath, and I don't find water bottles anymore of urine throughout his room and other places, but maybe he's getting better at concealing it.  OR.....maybe that rumor was false.  I think I might ask the school to let me know if they hear of anything else.  The first time I heard that he was using was from the school way back when.  They are a good source. Well......all I can say it's too bad that T doesn't appreciate all the support he's getting.  Why would he?  Adults always seem perplexed by this?  Perhaps T is more of an exception than a norm? UPDATE:  JUST GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THE SCHOOL.  T-MAN SKIPPED SCHOOL!  HE SHOWED UP FOR HIS FIRST CLASS WHILE WE WERE IN THE MEETING AND THEN THEY JUST DISCOVERED HE SKIPPED THE REST OF THE DAY.......URRGHH......

Hopefully this bump is him trying to find his independence and being ornery and not him using. Hang in there and I will send you a message later.

Darn! He\'s got to be motivated on his own -- perhaps he should take the GED and see if he passes -- so that he has something.......probably not your first choice but better than nothing! Take Care!!!
