Time to update on life! 12/15/13

Life has been interesting of late to put it mildly.
My son is still adrift with his life but I think or hope he is hitting rock bottom so maybe he will start to pull himself and his life together not only for his sake but for his almost 8 month old daughter's sake as well. I guess time will tell if he does or not. He was here today and brought some drama with him that I really didn't need after last night.
Last night was hubby's work Christmas party. It was nice enough. We went and got seated at the long table where I didn't know anyone. Thankfully, no one was sitting really close to me. After awhile, the seats started to fill up and suddenly I felt myself getting upset. Then when I asked my hubby for some water, he only filled my glass half way! That almost pushed me over the top for some reason. He was sitting and visiting with a guy he knows from work while I sat and played with my phone basically. The combo of things got to be too much and I started to have to fight tears....and I didn't do a very good job.   Thankfully, I had my last Xanax in my purse and I quickly took it.  For awhile, I had to fight back the tears and agitation I felt. Hubby went and got a salad but didn't get me anything. The place was busy and full and I didn't want to use the rollator to go get a salad. So i did without which irritated me that much more.
After the gal across the way finished her salad, she had me go out with her to smoke. Now I don't smoke but she insisted on the company. We talked outside while she smoked in the cold crisp air. I told her I had been sick in May and was still fighting some of the fall out of it and for some reason something had triggered things for me tonight. She was empathetic which was nice. We went back in and had a nice evening. Heck I even won the first $20 they gave away for the night!
The dinner was good....KC Strip Steak...cooked about medium rare..pink and slightly bloody. Not the way I prefer my steaks but I was able to eat it anyhow as I was hungry. We also had a baked potato, roll and then later a small dessert. Since I had won, hubby & I stopped at the DQ on our way out of town and got us each a treat! LOL
Anyhow....hubby is still driving a truck and is away from home a lot. That is okay most of the time. The hard part is the Thursday nights when he is gone over night. That is when the 6 yr old grand daughter REALLY likes to push my buttons. He isn't certain how much longer he will stay with the one company but will see what happens when his pay switches over from hourly to something else here after the first of the year. *sigh*
6 year old grand daughter has been on a bossy, smart mouth roll for awhile. Trying to tell me what she is or isn't going to do, what I need to do,etc. There are days she is lucky to see tomorrow and to be here for Christmas!!! She has had a few issues at school this first semester as well since she likes to talk all the time, can't keep out of other people's space, etc. She is of course, excited for Christmas!
The almost 8 month old grand daughter continues to be a joy and a challenge for me. I am glad she is here where I know she is safe and sound on a daily basis.I do hope and pray her father gets his act together this next year. I know he loves her so much but he just can't take care of her right now. He even admitted this weekend that deep down he knew this was the best place for her to be.
One more week of work, and then I am off for 2 weeks. Kind of a good thing, bad thing ....yes No work, no pay but no work means I have the 2 kids all day every day by myself also.  If it gets really cold again, we will all stay cooped up in the house, so I am praying for a decent holiday break with semi warm temperatures. LOL
Some good news, is that after the first of the year, I will have health insurance through hubby's work once more. Plus there is no rider on any health issues or waiting period!! So you can't beat that considering the year I have had. I need to go get my INR checked but right now, I just can't afford to do that so it is on hold. *sigh* I need to see the doctor after the first of the year as well. Hopefully, I can get off the Warfarin once this current script runs out since it was renewed for 3 months back in Nov. and I had the PE's & dvt's back in May!
Christmas will find us going to my daughter's place this year. I have been asked to bring a pumpkin pie which is no biggie. I have also gotten a few goodies on order for us to share since everyone is tight on money this year.
Here is wishing everyone a Merry Christmas ( or Happy Holidays) and a Happy New Year! May we all feel better and be healthier in the new year ahead!
