Time to Start Obsessing Again!
We have been in our new wonderful home for about 2 months now. Since before that, we had decided that ttc would have to be put on hold. At that point, we were both torn up and the heartache month after month was too much to bear. We've been ttc since January of '08 with a miscarriage in May of '08. We closed on our house in July, we had weddings to stand up in and I was/still am training for the marathon and it was then that things got so crazy busy that ttc was really the last thing on our minds, probably on purpose. It made it easier to not think about, which in essence is what we both needed. One month I forgot to even mark in my calendar the first day of AF so when the next month rolled around, I had no idea when she was due. I think once I thought I could finally see if not thinking about it really works. Well it didn't work. Now that we are all settled, Fall has approached us AND I have a birthday coming up, it's time to jump back on the ttc train! He went for another series hormone and genetics tests (recommended by his urologist in July), and we meet with his urologist on 10/29. I spoke to his doctor a few weeks ago about his last appointment which I was unable to attend, and he told me that his sperm count really isn't that bad. He also said we're young and have time. He thinks after running these last hormone tests, he can determine if there might be a medication he can put him on to help his sperm count. WHAT? Young and have time! I'm going to be 36 in December people! We've been trying for almost 2 years! What kind of doctor is this? I was so upset when he said that. I do know we put things on hold for awhile but c'mon! Honestly, I'm so tired of waiting, so tired of trying and failing, just tired. I just want to move on to fertility treatments and I'm not sure this doctor will agree. I have already checked what my insurance covers and I'm VERY ready to take this to the next level. If his doctor is not in agreeance with this and would like to take more time to see if this or that helps his sperm count, I'm going think about switching doctors. For insurance purposes, all I need is a referral from MY doctor, who knows about all our issues, to refer me to a fertility specialist. I will know more in a couple weeks. So today I'm on CD 25. We BDed like crazy this month! I run the Chicago Marathon this Sunday and AF is due like on Sunday. I know I'm not, but wouldn't it be crazy if this was our month? Sometimes I selfishly feel like I deserve this now. It's our turn damnit! I have so many friends who are now on their 1st, even 2nd kids since we've been trying and us, nothing. I have friends who have even had "oops" pregnancies. I hate those! We have this great house, great jobs, we're both healthy and just dying to be parents. We have so much to offer a child. Not to mention our family members who are DYING to be grandparents and aunts and uncles. It's our time!!!
