Time to get things sorted...
Ok so, I've recently been thinking about my current state of IF treatment and testing. Currently I'm left to my own devices as regards to my medicated cycles. I've got little to no contact with my RE and have had no monitoring at all since a blood test showed I was ovulating. Even when I was getting monitoring, I only got blood tests done.
I've had several ultrasounds done to check for cysts and the state of my uterus; I've had blood work to check my hormone levels; and I've had an HSG done.
My RE mentioned at some point that I should get my thyroid tested, but that was the last I heard of that.
Is there anything you ladies can suggest to me that I should 'demand' my RE or even GP test me for? Anything specific I should discuss with my RE that any of you can think of?
I'm tired of my weight being an issue, but no one listening to me when I say I can eat loads of veggies and work my ass off and still not lose weight (other than water weight). I am tired of being put on the back burner. And I am tired of being the one that suffers because someone else has 'more pressing needs'. I have a problem that has been left undiagnosed for at the very least 5 years, but if you look at my entire menstrual history has been going unchecked since I was 11 and hit puberty.
I need to get this shit sorted, or else I'll never get pregnant and I'll never get my body back to the way it SHOULD be working!

I\'m sorry things are so frustrating right now. I don\'t really understand how your RE isn\'t monitoring you though. Since weight loss is an issue, perhaps you should go ahead and get your thyroid checked. Even if its to know that\'s not a problem. Hang in there, we\'re here for you!
Getting your thyroid checked is a great place to start and maybe if your insurance would cover a dietician that could help with weight loss. I sure you feel overwhelmed and frustrated, hang in there Hun. Thinking of you!
Ask if you can take metformin aka Glucophage. It originally is for folks with diabetes and insulin resistance issues but it can also assist folks in the infertility category if you have PCOS. It can work as a carb blocker and helps to keep your period regular. I know folks personally who have lost weight while taking this pill, myself included. If it wasn\'t such a massive pill I would still be taking it just to help keep my weight in check but I can\'t swallow anything bigger than a birth control pill without having to crush it and gag it down.
One blood test that is easy to run is the AMH. Not sure if you had that already but my 1st RE never tested me until I asked and I had already had several IUI\'s. It tells you what your ovarian reserve is and so it gives a good idea of how much time you have to actually conceive. Also - If I hadn\'t insisted on a laparoscopy this year I would have never known I have endometriosis which is surely why I haven\'t gotten pregnant. I wish I would have had it done before I wasted money on the IUI\'s. Good luck hon!!
I think I remember you telling me that you don\'t have any other options for a RE but I REALLY think you need a new one. This one has not been helpful at all. Could your weight be a factor in your IF? Yes. Absolutely. Could your weight be because of an undiagnosed condition that ALSO causes IF? YES YES YES YES YES. You need a doctor who us willing to explore the second option!!
Thanks ladies. I have an appointment on Tuesday with my GP to discuss/get my thyroid tested. A nurse who works with my mother also suggested getting a CT to check my pituitary gland. She went through the same thing, and told my mother to tell me that the RE here in town seems to focus on one thing and forgets to check for others.
At this point I wish I could afford to travel to Toronto or Ottawa to see and RE at a clinic there. Unfortunately, my only way to and from both cities is by bus or train, both of which cost lots of money and of course any additional costs should I need to be there longer than 1 day.
