TIME OF CHANGE, A SELF REMINDER
HI JOURNAL,
IT WAS A TIME OF CHANGE ,
OF MASSIVE CHANGE FOR ME.
CIRCA 2006 -2007.
I MOVED OUT OF MY USELESS, HOPELESS,
PATHETIC NEGATIVE COMFORT ZONE ,
AND BEGAN REINVENTING MYSELF.
I JETTISONED ALL THINGS NEGATIVE,
WORKED ON DEVELOPING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE,
OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK AND AN 'I CAN DO SPIRIT'.
I STARTED FIGHTING PARKINSON'S BY MEETING IT HEAD ON,
BY MANAGING IT BETTER, BECOMING MORE INFORMED;
SELF BELIEF, MENTAL STRENGTH AND TOTAL COMMITMENT.
WORKING ON MYSELF, WITH AND FOR MYSELF,
MY SELF- ESTEEM BECAME HIGH AND HEALTHY,
I HAD MADE A GOOD START.
I BEGAN TO EMBRACE LIFE,
MOVED ON AND AWAY FROM MY ISOLATED POSITION,
TALK OF A QUANTUM LEAP,
A BIG STEP FOR MAN, ET AL.
A MIGHTY CHALLENGE INDEED,
WORKING ON MYSELF ON A DAILY BASIS ,
AS I STILL DO TO THIS DAY,
I BEGAN TO SEE AND FEEL CHANGES.
THE QUALITY OF MY LIFE INCREASED IN DIRECT PROPORTION,
TO MY POSITIVE INPUT.
DEPRESSION SUBSIDED,
I MADE ACQUAINTANCES THAT HAVE BECOME FRIENDS,
I JOINED GROUPS,
THE POSITIVE KNOCK-ON EFFECTS ,
BECOME MORE AND MORE EVIDENT,
PEOPLE REMARKED THAT,
MY APPEARANCE HAD CHANGED,
I WAS LOOKING AFTER MYSELF BETTER NOW.
I WATCHED LESS AND LESS TV,
DEVELOPED NEW INTERESTS,
FIRED UP THOSE I HAD ABANDONED.
I GAVE AWAY THE TRADITIONAL IDEA OF PARKINSON'S,
TO LIE DOWN IN THE AFTERNOON,
WHAT A WASTE OF PRECIOUS TIME.
I'M LOVING LIFE.
to be continued where did i leave off, oh yes,
I'm loving life,
I love where I live and I like being me.
That's a bit of a paradox I know.
Nevertheless it is true,
as I can say that by becoming more informed,
about Parkinson's Condition,
I know more about myself,
I know myself better,
I know what I want.
Gone are the days wondering around lost,
with no set goals and direction.
I am more in tune with myself than ever before,
I feel in harmony with myself,
my friends and with life in general.
I enjoy what I do, I'm never bored,
there are not enough hours in the day for me.
I give of myself,
I'm have more empathy for others.
I'm more honest with myself,
being well aware of the,
progressive nature of Parkinson's Condition.
I'm flexible and can adapt,
I endure according to temperament,
knowing full-well what may or may not,
lie ahead of me.
I have determined to,
Maintain A Winning Position,
to exercise a positive attitude,
having adopted an optimistic outlook,
I have an 'I can do' spirit.
These are my three drives,
they are free to everyone.
Closely linked to this are,
my mental strength,
self belief and total commitment.
This is not rocket science,
it is available to everyone.
I have heard some say they know,
their limitations.
Thankfully I don't know mine,
I feel it serves no purpose,
to set one's self limitations,
Parkinson's will do that for you,
BUT ONLY IF YOU LET IT.
So I say,
Set Ye No Limitations.
and with that,
it's pop a pill time and then I'm going to bed.
