Time doesn't heal all hurts...

For those of you who enjoy Tolkien here are a few quotes in red, of course. Even if you don't like/know Tolkien's work, he was a very wise person. and I think so often of his words and worlds.
"How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart, you begin to understand, there is no going back?"
"There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep that have taken hold."
Both quotes from Frodo in the Return of the King.
I chose the last one because it runs thro my mind all the time. I feel so broken. I can't even image what a happy life would be like now. I can't recall last time I was happy at all. You pretend, for others, but how can you be happy when there is so much pain?

I am old, Gandalf. I don't look it, but I am beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts. Well-preserved indeed! Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread. That can't be right. I need a change, or something. Said by Bilbo in The Fellowship.
I, Robbin, also feel old. My heart feels worn and stretched too thin. I think some of this aging is the pain from my body. But more is pain from people. Family and friend, doctors, judging strangers. My heart is squashed and I no longer even try to find all the shards. Most are too sharp to handle anyways.
Sorry, friends, to be such a downer. I'm struggling and feeling smothered by despair. Why would have thought that love, more than anything else in life, would be the destroyer?
Any insight on how to move this stupid mood along is appreciated. How do you all manage? Do you have actual real people in your life? Honestly, I'm so isolated now that it's a shock to see another human! I both anxiously avoid them and long for a person to help alleviate this sadness. But I guess other people can't do that, really. YOU have to first change yourself and only then can others help you the rest of the way up.
I WILL write again when I'm not so struck down. Don't know why pain seems to loosen my "tongue" aka fingers. BUt I'm not always down, just going thro a rough, jagged time right now. I'll end with these quotes, since I'm in a quote sort of mood.
A hunted man sometimes wearies of distrust and longs for friendship. by my hero, Aragorn!
Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it's not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them.Jodi Picoult,My Sister's Keeper
Has anyone read this? Just came across it and it fits. And you know what they say... if the quote fits, quote it!
