Time off

I had a CAT scan of my head (I have been telling people I had my head examined). They used the horrible icky dye that shows the blood flow through the brain.  I had a call from the Dr. office to come in for the result.  That was just prior to going to Park City.  I finally made the appointment and went on Tuesday.  It turns out that I have a tiny aneurysm in the artery that connects the left and right brain.
It took me by surprise - I really thought that they would find nothing.  My headaches really are caused by stress.  My doctor talked to a neurosurgeon and he said it is such a small one that I would not have symptoms from it.  However, I am going to see him eventually - probably in 6 months or a year as I am not urgent.
I take this as a wake up call to start taking care of myself.  My doctor and I both laughed when she said I need to decrease my stress levels.  She has been wonderful since Lisa died and subsequently Joe's sister, and now my brother.  Stress raises my blood pressure which puts pressure on the arteries.  If I don't take care of myself, the aneurysm can get bigger and potentially burst.  I have taken care of enough stroke patients to know that I don't want that.
So I am on a quest to relax, lower my blood pressure, and make the best of it.  I began walking daily again, meditating and eating healthy (most of the time - I am not giving up the pizza and beer)  - I can meditate for 15 minutes but that is better than nothing and I enjoy walking.
The thing that bothers me most is how it affects my family, mainly Joe and my son Andrew.
I will probably be on FMO less.  I think of you daily and will read journals, but may not be responding.  You have to wonder what's next.
Lisa:  I miss you always and love you forever.  Mummy

What shocking news to get. Just what you didn\'t need to know. Hopefully, in time, it will prove to be a simple, easy fix. They tell us not to stress, then give us something new to stress about. I am so sorry for your worries, Marlene. Don\'t stop writing to us, please, as I\'ll worry about you and I cannot stand anymore stress!! Love you, Abby

Not perfect news, but certainly something you can work with. Taking care of our bodies and our minds is vital and so I\'m glad you\'re doing just that. You\'ll be missed around here, but we totally understand the needed break. Pop in whenever you can and always remember, YOU ARE LOVED!

BTW, I thought beer and pizza were stress relievers!!! LOL! I enjoyed sipping some mango rum stress relief myself last night!!!!

Oh WOW - as if life is not challenging as it is but to have health issues to contend with. I\'m glad you are aware of the situation and our modern scans allow us access to such knowledge. Yes, be very, very good to yourself and take very good care.

Keep us posted as we love you and think of you often.

Pizza is \'soul food\' and life without it -- well, what would it be -- unthinkable!!! I use healthy ingredients when I prepare mine these days. Just finished picking the Thompson seedless grapes and they are on the drying tables turning into raisins for the winter. The fresh peaches I have been harvesting are amazing and it leaves me thankful for the gardens the one place I can be and the reality of this crisis melts away. It is the simple pleasures that allow quality life in spite of crisis -- Just amazing!!

Gentle ((hugs)) shared.
