Thyroid Problems
I have had Hashimoto's (Hypothyroid) for 22 years. It really never gave me much trouble except of course in the beginning. I have always been really thin. At times, way too thin. Right now I'm with the same Endo that I've changed from in the past due to his utter incompetence. Then went to other Endo's to find they were basically as anal, so went back to the Endo I with now. He's more local and convienient, and I really wasn't experiencing difficulties with my thyroid, so I stayed with him again the last few years. I've gone to him during this time, for my regular thyroid checkups, with bad cases of the flu or broncitis, and have asked him to give me antibiotics or something. His retort was always the same "This is not my field". I don't have an General Practioner, so a couple of times I had to go from his office to the Immedicare. I think this is ridiculous. So I am now ready to search for a new endo. Now the problem is that not even one of my Endo's have ever told me to avoid iodine, calcium, or any special foods to not partake. So a few months ago I was very sick with Broncitis, blew out some ribs and strained my back. I WAS EXHAUSTED! So I decided to go on a better Multi Vit that included a higher dose of Calcium. Then I became like a walking zombie, I was so beyond tired. I didn't know at that time the Calcium was blocking my thyroid med, so when I finally figured this part out, I had already gained 20 lbs, moon face, pale and pasty. My hair was falling out. I wasn't sleeping at night. Very moody. Bad brain fog. So now it's at least a month since I stopped taking my Multi-Vit and things are starting to reverse. I've realized now that I shouldn't be taking iodine and zinc, which I have been taking. I have a lot more research thanks due to a member here at DS) to do to find out what else I can or can't take with my levoxothyrine. My daily vits. are B-Complex, Multi-Vit, B-12 tablet, Chromium Picolinate, Co-Q-10. I also take PB8 (Probiotics) in the morning with my thyroid med. I'm trying to figure out if I should be taking the Probiotics with my thyroid med, or if I should just take this with my other vitamens. I just purchase Fish Oil, but haven;t started it yet. I'm so confused. I want to try to figure all this out before I go back to any Endo (new or old). I was due back at the beginning of Jan so now I'm late and have to make a decision. Change Endo now, or stick with this Endo for one more visit while I try to figure out what supplements I should or shouldn't take, and when to take them. I feel like my mind is a big puddle of mud, so I'm having a real hard time trying to figure this all out.
