those of you who have miscarried - I need your help
A very dear friend of mine and his wife had a miscarriage several months ago. Every month since on the day she can test to see if she is pregnant and or around the time of her period - she wakes up freezing. She lays in a tub with the hottest water possible and is still shivering. She has diffiulty breathing and has aches and cramps. THEN the next day she wakes up and she feels fine. I guess it is like clockwork - every month single month this happens.
Have you all ever experienced anything like this? Have you heard of this?
They have been to their general physician and to a breathing specialist. What would you all recommend as who to see next?
Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am probably of no help here. The only common thread I can think of is that right before my period arrives, I am freezing. I am always a cold person to begin with (not emotionally...you know what I mean:) But when my hormone levels are dropping and I\'m about to start my period, my level of feeling cold is off the charts. Hard to get warm. I shiver and wear my coat around the house.
I do also wonder if there could be some emotional connection to what she is experiencing as well. Not at all that \"this is in her head\"...you know what I mean. Moreso that I wonder if the trauma of having had a miscarriage and then wondering if she\'s pregnant each month stirs up a lot inside of her emotionally and maybe exacerbates what would usually be more run-of-the-mill menstrual symptoms.
It\'s the only thing that I can think of. Especially since the next day she wakes up and feels fine.
Since it\'s so temporary it makes me think there is not something significantly wrong with her physically. But I am not an MD obviously so maybe I am wrong.
I wish I could think of who she could see next.
I know sometimes women have physical issues arise after a miscarriage. I remember someone on here not too long ago who was having significant pelvic pain after a miscarriage. Even months later. She went from doctor to doctor and received no help. And finally she found someone who was able to diagnose her. And I think it turned out to be adenomyosis.
I know sometimes there can be scarring after a miscarriage, especially if a D&C was done.
But I\'m not sure what would bring on these symptoms so acutely and then she would feel totally fine the next day.
I have endometriosis and some of it is on my diaphragm. So I think sometimes there can be breathing issues with endo.
Wish I could be more help. Just thinking off the top of my head.
I think an acupuncturist...or someone who specializes in Chinese medicine could be helpful too. Oftentimes they will pay more attention to symptoms (hot, cold, etc.) like this than a Western doctor will.
That sounds a lot like anxiety. I had a really hard time whenever my period came/was coming for several months. I felt like it was happening all over again. I suffer from an anxiety disorder for which I take a daily medication, so I think I was able to more easily recognize it as anxiety. It affected me more physically during those months than it generally does. I would have many of those same symptoms. Hard time breathing, my body would feel achy and tired, my stomach would clench up and cramp, and I would feel all jittery and shaky inside.
Honestly, the only thing that helped me to start to manage it was starting grief counseling. How far along was she? I also had a lot of physical symptoms that I think were from the hormones readjusting, such as waking up drenched in sweat but then being really cold. That happened a lot for several months.
With all of that in mind, I would recommend a visit to her OB to check hormone levels and finding a good grief counselor. Sometimes we think we are handling things ok, but our body is trying to tell us not so much.
I love you girls so much! Passing this along to my friend and I will keep you updated!
Nothing easy about any of this - is there?
My continued love to my DS friends who always jump in and help!
