This week from hell...and back???
Well, this week has turned out to be hell to go through and I'm so glad it's Friday! TGI-freaking-F! Earlier in the week I had just about had enough with my ex-husband and my niece's relationship. What's up with that? Okay, to try and make sense here (more for me than the whole world), but we took her under our wing when she moved out here from Minnesota with her mom to marry my brother. So, basically she is my step-niece if I were to get so technical. She was four at the time and she will now be 20 on Monday. That's quite a long time to have someone in your life -- helping her with school work, having her spend the nights ALL THE TIME! LOL! The whole time she was bumping heads with my brother and both were wreaking havoc in their home from the time she was eight until the time she moved in with us at 16. Since my ex and I were foster parents for a good few years it was easy to assimilate her into our home. So, yay, I got to experience her through her teenaged years and put up with the crap that her family didn't. But, that's okay, it's all out of love and unconditional kindness...mixed in with a little bit of kharma, I hope? So, fast forwarding to my ex leaving us... me, our adopted daughter and my niece... we sold the house which left us "homeless" for a bit until I could find a condo. My parents took me and my daughter in and my ex's parents took my niece in. If that wasn't weird enough!!! That's for a whole other post (although, while I am really appreciative of that -- I am grateful on one hand and angry on another), but while she was living with me through the divorce she was quite angry and felt all the things a child would feel going through a divorce (but, mind you, we had a rather quiet divorce with no arguing in front of the kids) not wanting to have anything to do with my ex. When she moved in with his parents, she did a complet flip!!! I guess I feel betrayed in a bit and can't really get passed my feelings. Now, I find out that she "hangs out with him" from time to time and even text messages him with a few things that I've said. WTF is up with that? I HATE the drama and would rather just go away, but I can't. Now I'm absolutely pissed off and want to re-evaluate my relationship with her as my niece!!! I feel like she has been hypocritical and a bit backstabbing... but, she's only 20 and a bit on the immature side... so, who's being immature now????? I realize I need to get over it and move on about it and have to know in my heart that she wouldn't want to hurt me deliberately. I know too that she's got to be in a tough place having to live with his parents since she's not a part of that family through any sort of blood or marriage. And now I also realize that there will be no more talking to her about anything. WAKE UP CALL! Divorce is so nasty as it is no matter how ammicable you try to keep it all. Being a single parent now at 42 is not a place I thought I'd ever be either. Shit, I have so much to get through already that I don't need family messing with me too! So I leave this here todayI must be on my wayA journey I beholdThis life is getting old Will this ride ever endMy daughter's life I must tendShe needs to be my true focusNot this bullshit, this rucous She now is the love of my lifeMy adoration for her is rifeOur long journey togetherMy baby, my daughter...
