This morning,my body is letting me down badly
Good morning journal, the time is 7:41am,I have been awake since 7:10am,and I am on my first mug of coffee of the day.I retired to bed at 10pm last evening, and after a night of somewhat troubled sleep,I finally awoke in a fit of coughing and unable to breathe.I got up and had a couple of puffs on my rescue inhaler, and now,I am waiting for it to kick in.I have a lot of phlegm right now,and there is a distinct rattle in my chest when I try to breathe normally, the coughing has subsided a little, but I am still having difficulty;all I can do is wait. So,to take my mind off my current condition,I have decided to come here and try and journal a little, sometimes it helps,at other times it doesn't,so we will just have to be patient.Patience is not a virtue which I have an over abundance of,I've been that way all of my life,it's just the type of man I am,but I am getting better at it,I have no choice. The days of me hurrying things and taking life with the speed of a runaway train, are sadly over,my illness dictating the swiftness of anything I choose to undertake,is simply a fact of life which I have to accept,so,this morning,I will wait for however long it takes to feel better.Tomorrow,I have an appointment scheduled with John,my therapist, perhaps he will have some news about the planned session with the psychiatrist,I hope so.I will have to call him today, for if his wife has had their first baby, the appointment will be cancelled until he is back at work.On Wednesday,I have to have my diabetic eye screening done at the big medical center in town,it's an early morning appointment,so that is good, let's me get it done and over with at the start of the day.As always, when some area of my life is slightly off balance,I usually can come up with a bible quotation that tells me why, this morning,I am reminded of a verse from the book of Job,5:7,"yet man is born to trouble,as surely as sparks fly upwards". Life sometimes hits a buffer or two as we travel through our time on Earth, when God created us,He didn't promise us that the life He breathed into us wouldn't be bumpy at times, what He promised us was that when we experienced the bumpy bits,He would be there to help us.Our part of the bargain is not forgetting to ask,we have to meet Him halfway,if we don't ask,He can't help,so I ask, simple. The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God,within it's pages,I have found an answer for most things I have encountered in my life, some big, others not so big,but the answers are there. As a parent,if I was going away for a while,I would leave instructions for my children on how I expected them to behave while I was gone, some do's and dont's,and general guides on how to live until I returned. The Bible is just like that, there are guide lines for living and conducting yourself in a right and proper manner;my Bible is a letter from my Father to me,telling me how He expects me to behave until He returns for me,and just as my children can call me if they are in trouble at anytime,I have a direct line to my Father, day or night, and I can speak with Him for as long as I need,He's my parent,He makes it easy,I just have to remember to use the tools He provides, for me,it's that simple, for me anyway. It's a bit like the various medications I am on at present,as long as I continue to take them as prescribed, they usually work,if I forget to take them,I feel ill,my Bible is my daily medication for living, and,up until now,it's worked pretty well.I'm not saying I pore over it diligently every moment of every day,but when I need answers,or help,it's there.Do I still commit sin?,yes,do I make mistakes?,yes, but when I do something that I know to be wrong, the conscience that my Father instilled in me tells me so,and as long as I genuinely ask Him to forgive me,He will.Just as there have been times when my children have displeased me,when they came to me and said,"I'm sorry dad",I forgave them, and they then knew that they shouldn't have done whatever it was that had displeased me,and usually,it didn't happen again.God is my Father,He loves me unconditionally, and as long as I am genuinely repentant,He forgives me,and I know not to do it again,it's what any loving parent does,as long as they know the lesson has been learned.Well,I really don't know how we got on to this particular subject this morning, but,as always,I have enjoyed my time here, and,my breathing is almost back to normal, sometimes playing for time is all we can do.Until next time journal, love and peace walk with us.

Beautifully put! I pray you have a good day, my friend!
Scott, having COPD myself my heart goes out to you when you talk of the struggles breathing is sometimes. GOD i know that feeling well, moment after moment of helplessness, wondering if you will ever catch that breath you need to get back to whatever normal is. You hang in there, and pray for better days. -- Bill
