This morning,I can handle my pain for now

Good morning journal, the time is 9:07am,and I have just opened my eyes after fourteen hours of uninterrupted sleep.I was in so much pain from my chest last night, that I went to bed at 6:30pm,after finding a position that was semi-comfortable,I fell into a deep sleep, only waking this morning when Bree, our smallest dog roused me with lots of face kisses.Sitting here at my desk now,the pain seems to have moved from my chest to the right side of my back around the region of the right lung;it isn't too bad at present, but it does hurt badly when I cough.Apart from the pain,I feel wonderfully rested, and yesterday was another day in which my wife and I were content and happy with each others company. We talked about various things, openly and at length, and I appreciate and love her more with every passing day;I'm also trying not to take her for granted, sometimes, when people have been together for a long time, there can be a staleness,a comfort zone develops which can lead, without intention,to an atmosphere of almost being room mates, today,I am endeavoring to let this beautiful woman see that she still makes my heart beat a little faster every time she simply walks into a room.In the past,I must admit to failing in these things, but this is the new me,as it were, she is a wonderful wife, but in the very worst days of my illness,I have not let her know that, and that is a regret that I have to carry.Today, she will know how much her man loves her, simple things like a hug,or a stroke of her hair, can mean so much with so little effort,I am remembering simply to say"I love you",today I will be the husband she deserves.Yesterday,I called my eldest daughter, who has recently been released from yet another stay in hospital, she is in a lot of pain, but,as usual, her concern was for me,her old dad,I told her what was going on with me and she told me how she was doing. It was a good conversation between myself and the daughter I adore, she will be thirty four on March thirtieth, but she still calls me daddy, she is still my little girl;it fills me with sadness that she has been sick for most of her life, but, like her daddy, she stubbornly refuses to lay down and give up.As I look out the big window at the front of our house, the sun is very bright, but it is bitingly cold, that sunshine is within our home this morning, combined with a warmth that is lacking outside,it is a warmth in our hearts and in our souls,it makes a man simply glad to be alive, and feel lucky that he has such a terrific,(not to mention great looking),wife, and wonderful children and grand kids.Until tomorrow then journal, peace is well established in our world.

What a fortunate man you are to have such a loving and wonderful family! You have what has eluded me all my life...someone to treasure who could treasure me in return; someone who could be my soulmate and the center of my universe. I know it\'s something I will never have; so be it. But it warms my soul to know there are others who do have it, realize it, and don\'t take it for granted. I so love and admire you and your wife, and I\'m so happy you found each other. You both deserve so much happiness. Love and hugs to you both!
