This morning,I am in good spirits, about time too!
Good morning journal, the time is 9:39am,I have been awake for about half an hour after a restful night during which I didn't wake once after retiring to bed at around 11:00pm last evening.Yesterday was a day which was unsettled and nervy in parts and there were several occasions when an argument could have quite easily erupted between my wife and myself,I was being a bit of a rebel,as I am prone to be sometimes, and I was having a beer in front of the television, much to my wife's frustration. It was early evening and my wife was concerned that a beer would interfere with my night time medication, but I remained calm and didn't argue or get mad,and the rest of the evening passed with no further incidents,or any hurt being caused to my wife's feelings, she was simply stating her concerns and I knew that, and for once,I didn't throw my toys out of my pram.I had two beers over a period of five hours or so before going to bed,I enjoyed them and I slept well, this afternoon,I will have another couple of beers as the FA cup final, our version of the super bowl is the closest description I can come up with for my American friends,is live on television. It is always a huge occasion in my country, and television coverage always begins around two hours before kick off and you get to see all the highlights of previous round games and how both teams got to the final.Today, the game is between Manchester City and Wigan Athletic,Manchester are the red hot favorites to win,but I shall be supporting Wigan as it is the very first time they have reached the final, and the town of Wigan is about an hours drive from our home.I am looking forward to it immensely,I am a huge sports fan,any sport really, cricket, which is similar to baseball, rugby, union or league, both of which are similar to NFL football, and NFL football itself,I am a long suffering fan of the Minnesota Vikings while my wife is a voracious Redskins follower, but my passion is soccer, when I was younger I played and then later coached the game and I have loved it since I was a small boy.In fact,I don't think there are many sports which I don't,or wouldn't,watch,I like baseball,I'm a twins fan while my wife favors the orioles, and I also love boxing, which I also used to participate in when I was younger, boxing at lightweight for the army.Sadly, these days my participation in sport is conducted from my armchair, but I still enjoy it very much.Anyway,on to other things, this morning my spirits are good, about time too I hear you cry journal!,I don't know if the increase in the anti psychotic drug is finally doing it's stuff or not,but the past couple of days, the voices in my head have been largely silent, save for the odd whisper or two,and I am happy and contented as I sit here in my chair, way to go magic pills,if that is the reason for my voices being quieter I'll take it,and long may it continue.I'm not getting too upbeat about it though,I've had periods before when starting a new drug had the effect of silencing my voices for a short time, only for them to return with as much force as they had before,so I'm keeping my feet very firmly on the ground.Yesterday,I received a letter from my therapist John,he apologized for the long wait and I have an appointment with him on May 29th at 1:30pm,in fact the next month or so,I have appointments with several people or places. After my therapy session,I have to see my doctor on June 5th,and I have to have more blood tests the following day at the pathology lab at the local hospital to see if the metformin is controlling my blood sugar count or not,if it is,we are happy campers,if not, then it's back to the drawing board. At the start of next week,I will have to go pick up some fresh batteries for my"bionic ears" from the audiology department at the same hospital,so for the next two weeks or so,I will be a busy man.I also mustn't forget that on July 2nd,I have my first session with doctor Ashfaq who is a psychiatrist, perhaps he will be able to figure out what is making me tick so to speak,I hope so because I don't have a clue and I live with me!. At the moment my whole life is dictated by the entries in my desk diary, without it,my life would be an even bigger shambles than it is now,it is the only area of my life that I can claim has any semblance of order, and my telephone index is a place where the contact details of doctors, therapists and diabetic nurses are fast beginning to outnumber those of friends and family, that doesn't strike me as being either right or proper, but it is sadly true. When I think back to before I collapsed and became ill,I hardly ever saw my doctor,I enjoyed rigorously good health and had the energy levels of a man half my age, today,I get through the day as best I can, such is life I suppose,we never know what's around the corner.Anyway journal, thanks to this place and my friends on this site, not to mention my wonderful and long suffering spouse,I continue to suck air and live, even when there are times I don't want to,and I will continue to do so until if and when it becomes intolerable or too hard to keep going.Until the next time then, peace, the love of God and a Wigan Athletic win in the cup final go with us.
