This Is Me Letting Go

This will be the hardest thing I have ever done; it feels like I am slitting my own throat. I am on the verge of tears all day and finally release them and cry myself to sleep at night.
I’m tired of nagging, arguing, and crying all the time. I told you that you are now free to do what you want; but with that comes responsibilities.
You want the best of both worlds; the love and support of family and your boyfriend. You only want us in your life when you need something now. It’s time for you to grow up. You think your boyfriend’s Mom is awesome, but her son is older and she’s been through all of this with him already. No wonder she’s awesome, she’s done her time.  I’m just a bitch now, but maybe some day I will be awesome again too. She takes you to dinner and a play and you loved it. I took you on a week’s vacation and you didn't even want to be there.
I will stop being the pathetic Mom who texts with some asinine question just to hear from you.  If you want to talk to me, you know where I am. I won’t send you anymore goofy pictures or videos on Facebook. I won’t like all of your statuses.
No more reminders to check your college email to tell you there is something important you need to take care of. No more of me asking about a certain grade and why you got it. No more of me telling you what your financial aid page says and what you need to do. You want to be a big girl? Act like it and step up and take care of your own stuff.
I will always be here to help you if you need it, but for my own sanity I need to step back and let you grow up. You’re going to fall, more than once. But I would rather you fall and learn, rather than me helping you stand up all the time.
I love you so much and am dying without you; but this is me letting go.

You are a strong person. I need to do what you are doing. She will someday realize how much you helped her. Prayers for peace to you.
