Oh yeah I have EDNOS too!!!
I'm so sorry that you were mugged. I can't even begin to imagine how scary that was! I'd imagine that you also have a PTSD diagnosis? Big hugs.
Do you have contact with your dad? I know that you've mentioned your mom from time to time. What type of relationship do you have with her?
Yay...another native Texan! I was born there and lived there for over 30 years. I'm from the DFW area. How about you?
It is SO great to learn more about you. Thank you for sharing with us!!
My mom lived in Teas (many areas) for 16 years I was born in Dallas and lived there and in Arlington.
My and I are mostly good, I have not seen my dad since 2011 and he only contacts me on holidays.
*Texas
I do not have a PTSD diagnosis but I probably have it too.
I'm sorry fluterify, hugs!
My mom passed on when I was 7 yrs. old. My dad was in and out of my life until she passed on. Then we (my older sister & I) lived our Dad.
My brother was in and out of foster homes most of my first 7 years of life & then after our mom passed on was adopted by our grandparents, which I loved my brother and looked up to him, tried mocking him, followed him around but he didn't like it.
We were kicked out of a few residences.
My Dad was abusive in every way and formal military.
My Dad also DAILY made my sister and I cook and clean the entire house by ourselves including laundry and wash dishes.
If even one thing wasn't done to his expectations he torn the ENTIRE house up, including flipping mattresses and yanking everything out of every cabinet and closet in the house and we had to clean it all... Plus received a lecture/questioning, fat lips/ fat bloody lips , marks on our body, called names, ect.
As a child, we moved to many different states, which my sister & I was only told about at last minute (I mean, we would come home from school & told to pack that we were moving. We would be packed and out of the current residence within hours of the same day.
My sister (which is a year older then I) had nothing to do with me.
Our Dad died when I was 19 years old.
My sister really has nothing to do with me to this day, and my brother has nothing to do with anybody. Actually he made his whereabouts unknown, nor is he on any social site, has a private # and doesn't contact anybody.
I been in abusive relationships.
I been homeless.
I have a eating disorder, am alcoholic, struggled with drugs, ect.
I just thought I'd share. : )
Sorry :'(
Hon, it is hard but you can do it. Do not let the past define your future. I was molested by my father, my uncle and kicked out at 12 because I was blamed by my mother for what her brother did. I could not tell my mother what her husband was doing for the fear of being kicked out again. Being the oldest, I was worried about what would happen to my siblings if he went to jail. So I shut up until I could not take it anymore. I threatened him and he stopped. I am just want share this with you. You are not alone. Hugs
So...you see...you are not alone in this. Many have shared stories here.
and, like Mary said, you cannot continue to live in the past. The past has made you who, and what you are today. It is your decision who you will be tomorrow!!!
I lived in Arlington for over seven years, and really enjoyed it. I'd imagine that it was a BIG change moving from Texas to where you live now! I'm glad that you and your mom have a pretty good relationship. I'm sorry about your dad. Unfortunately, that scenario is pretty common. Big hugs!
PTSD is certainly a possibility given what you went through, especially at that age. Do you have nightmares about the event? I have PTSD due to childhood abuse, and am triggered by sounds and smells. I also have nightmares. It can be really hard to let go of all of the pain.
I hope you can relate to what others have shared. We are all here for you!
I rarely remember dreams but when I try to relax I "see" his shadow and or feel him, and I can not handle someone walking behind me.
