This dream is over... or has it just begun.

Since the funeral, those lines keep going over and over in my head.  And show up in my dreams. I know it sounds like I'm still mourning... but that's not what these words mean to me.   It means, my new dream has begun and I need to find it.
I keep dreaming about going home to Wisconsin.   Nobody's in those dreams... no x, no family... just places.   Places from my childhood that are no longer there, no longer exist.  I wonder if this means that I need to go home in my heart to begin my new dream....
I had an AWESOME Christmas despite having been sick and having cell phone trouble and missing calls.   I watched my granddaughter from 5 am to 2 pm yesterday and gave her the new Strider bicycle I've had hidden in my house since October.   She LOVES it (so does her Dad), despite not being able to sit on the seat and put her feet on the floor at the same time, lol.   She knew how to play with it right away.   The remainder of her visit was spent going from her bike into my spare bedroom closet to touch my bike.   Man, I got a workout on the back of my legs just leaning over and helping her direct the bike.  Yep, I think we are going to be spending a lot of time outdoors this summer...
Then my son and daughter-in-law asked me to come over for Christmas presents.  OMG, every time I turned thinking I was done with some great gift, there was another.... chocolate, lots of chocolate, lol... a sewing system to keep my crafting organized (really cool!), photos, and a floor mat that so totally fits my house which has a cat on one side and a dog on another and says "We're so excited that you came to visit that we can't decide if we should pee on the floor or tear up the couch".   I did mention I call my house the zoo, right?  And one of the gifts I had gotten for an anniversary years ago from my in-laws was a steam cleaner, lol...
When I got home, I called my mother-in-law.   For Christmas, she mailed me a gift card in with my son's gifts, for buying new clothes with and when I called, told me where the best after Christmas sales were, lol, and she also included all the sympathy cards.    WOW, the X only had 2 friends show up for his funeral, but they came out in force for his family.    Made me feel good.   She and I talked a long time.   I thought I'd feel weird, you know, because she and I never really got along before in the past, but it was good.  We have a connection now... one we probably should have had a long time ago.... maybe this is part of the healing?  At first, I was thinking that it was something I didn't want... but it makes feel so good... and maybe for her it gives her the emotional connection she'd been missing all these years with her son...
And then I went to the movie to see "The Hobbit".   AWESOME movie.   I'm so glad I went.   And I got home at midnight to discover all my missed phone calls including one from my father.   Oh well, not about to text in the middle of the night - I'll catch up this morning.
And best present, lol... I got on the scale and it said I only gained 3 pounds!   That'll be gone as soon as I start skiing again! (the chocolate will be after-workout rewards, and cinnamon rolls are GONE!) :)
And so today... my dream begins.  I'm beginning with getting my financial life organized the rest of the way.... getting that schooling stuff going by the end of the week and begin working out and training for that bike race tomorrow (because I need more sleep today, lol).   Have a Happy New Year everyone!   LATER!

What a great journal!!
I think this re-evaluating ones past and future must be a part of the mourning process becuse I have found myself doing something very similar since my father\'s death at the end of August.
It must be something to do with the realisation that we are mortal and wanting to make the most of our lives on earth.
You write such great introspective journal entries. I love logging on to read them. Thank you for sharing your life journey with all of us.

It is great to see this upbeat journal. So glad you had a fun Christmas - it is so special when there is a little one around to share the joy!

Skiing sounds great! i would love to get back into it myself, the stbx wasn\'t a fan but I\'ve done it since I was a kid and it\'s like riding a bike, you just don\'t forget (alpine I\'m talking, although thinking you mean x-country).

3 lbs is no big deal, and I think when we over indulge at the holidays it makes us that much more grateful to get back to a healthy and nutritious diet. I always eat an apple a day but during Christmas....well, nevermind!

Stay happy and let those good feelings and dreams flow freely - they are taking you places! hug
