This and That
Just a few thoughts and experiences of the trip thus far. The plane flight was not near as bad as I thought it would be. Yall were right. California is like nothing I've ever seen. A far cry from Texas. There's a drought here and the countryside is light tan from it. But the rolling hills and mountains are still beautiful. Sara and Jim have been fantastic and have tried to cater to my food needs. I love their home and the community they live in. There are deer everywhere. When we first drove up to their house, there was a deer in their neighbor's front yard and I see deer passing through the area behind their house. Sara took me on a golf cart tour of the golf course and we must have seen at least 50 deer of all ages including fawns that still had mottleling on their fur. If you're a golfer, this course is beautiful and a huge challenge because it's built in the moutains. There are no level fairways and they are bordered by houses. Their home is beautiful and shows the work they have invested in it. The back yard is a sanctuary. The weather has been great with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 60s. Jim likes to work with wood and you'll see some of his handywork in photos I'll download later. Look for bird houses in the trees. Jim made them. Hummingbirds are all around and it's a delight to watch them. They think nothing of buzzing passed your head to get to the feeders and either side of the yard. After I got here Saturday, we stopped by a restaurant for lunch. I had something they called Whiskey Chicken. I'm not sure how it was fixed but it was sweet and savory with apple stuffing. Never tasted anything like it. I left my reading glasses there, but didn't realize it till we got to their house. I blew it off and bought another pair. On our way back from San Francisco, we passed though the same town and I jokingly commented that we might stop by the restaurant and see if they had my glasses. We did and they did. Now I've got 2 pairs. Got a surprise on the way to San Francisco. We're only Highway 80 near Sacremento and my cell phone rang. Was not expecting that. It was my boss who wanted to check my hours for payroll. Well, I guess I know my cheap cell phone works in California. We're going to Sacremento today. It's turning out to be a vacation I'll never forget.

I am so happy for you Mike, and i\'m so happy you\'re enjoying your time spent with your sis and your BIL. I wish i could travel there and see what you\'re seeing. Perhaps some day... at least i can live it through your eyes. Hugs and kisses, keep on having a good time. Deb :0)
