Thirty nine years...

I don't know whether or not I will have time to post tomorrow. December 4 will mark thirty nine years of life for me. It's not a landmark birthday or anything, but it's noteworthy for other reasons.
Statistically, the life expectancy for a schizophrenic,  post-diagnosis is something like five years. I could take that to heart, or give up hope on account of schizophrenia. Me, I choose to fight. I choose to fight for life, for betterment of myself, for improvement of the lives of those near and dear to me who've suffered on account of my trials and tribulations. I look forward to seeing 50 with a strong bill of health (I've quit smoking) and a quality of life.
But mostly, I want to help others with like minds, as it were. My treatment has restored my love for living in general, and given me a new perspective and vigor. Since I've logged many miles on the road to recovery already, I think it's time for me to give back something, to give others like myself a leg up, and to be a source of inspiration and reassurance.
I don't quite know how I can do that, but being a part of Daily Strength is a huge step in that direction. Maybe I can use my one big strength (music) for that purpose? We'll see. 'Til then, I have to think positive, and keep my chin up.
Strength...
