thinking of my freinds

As I sit here this morning my mind is filled with Meriel and David.    She is so far away and I have grown to love  her. How she has made these last days so special for him. They are such a sweet love story and  I find it hard to  understand the why of things.  I  know the Bible tells us there is a time and place and season for all things. My faith is strong but it is so hard to lose the ones we love.   All I can do for her is to pray that David is without pain and she will have the courage to help him thru this.
So many of you have been where she is now. When I actually let myself think about the whole process of losing the light of my life my heart races.  Steve and I are like two halves. At night he tells me how much he loves me and I know that he does. We have been together since high school and he will be 65 in April.  When I think about how long we have been together I know that I am blessed!  He has provided for me should he be taken first. A life without him?  I don't even want to think about it!  I guess that is how I deal with cancer, one day at a time.  We have done that for 13 1/2 years.  I thank God for those years!
We had his blood drawn yesterday and the blood count was back up so he started another round of Sutent last night.  He got up with me this morning but felt bad so he has gone back to bed for a while.  He has gotten into a routine of feeling sick on his stomach and  has not taken his  morning coffee as much.  We enjoy the mornings,  drinking our coffee and reading the newspaper. We lay around in our pjs and just do what we feel like. Thank you God for these days.
I still do not have notice of your journal entires. I hate that and have gotten a little disgusted with the process.  I have to go to each friend's journal to see if you have posted. Becca, I did what you suggested  but no luck.
I hope you are all well,  I think of you and covet your prayers for us.
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda...I certainly know what Meriel is going through and my thoughts and prayers are with her and her husband. One of the hardest things I ever did was watch as my husband lost the ability to be the man he once was and finally give up the battle. He wanted to go into the care of Hospice and I was the one that wanted to hold out. I knew once we were under the care of Hospice our doctor and hospital was out of the picture and if I needed anything I called them any time of the day or night. They were wonderful people and I can\'t say enough how they helped me through those last few hard days.
I am not a church going woman ...use to go I was even a Youth Group Leader and on several committee\'s in the church. But after my daughter grew up and I moved away from that church I stopped going. Buddy and I went to a church in the town we were living in a couple times but it wasn\'t the same. I have questioned my faith several times....I will never understand why so many young and also good people die when so many bad people live. I know it\'s not for us to understand but I am one of those people that needs answers. The minister of that church I attended for so many years has moved on to another church out of state and I heard last week that he is battling throat cancer...and has had his larynx removed. I sent a card out yesterday to him and his wife. He was a wonderful man that helped me through my divorce and my daughter to adjust to all we went through during that period. She was only a teenager and I was so afraid she would start acting out but the church and the youth group did wonders for her...today I am proud to say she has her masters in Psychology and is a crisis counselor in a high school helping teens in need. I think of you and Steve a lot and you know you are both in my thoughts. I would really like to meet you some day. Maybe we could set up a weekend for some DS members that aren\'t to far from a general area we are all within a couple hours drive to....Hugs and Love, Ellen

Dear Wanda, I agree with you that our dear friend Meriel and her loving husband D really need all our prayers. They are both such brave and special people that it breaks my heart to see them go through such a difficult time.

As for you and Steve, you are the beacon of light for everyone here. I know you gave me hope when I needed it. I pray that Steve will live to see the day a cure is found for this terrible disease. You just hold on tight to your faith, and you will be able to walk the challenging road you have to walk. Love you, Linda

Hello Dearest Wanda,
I, too, hurt for Meriel and her precious D. They are constantly in my thoughts and prayers too.
You and Steve have a truly amazing marriage...and much to be graetful for, as do Ray and I.
I will be praying that Steve adjusts to the Sutent quickly, and that side effects will be manageable. Enjoy those lazy days together, my sweet friend.
I love you,
Ingrid

Oh Wanda, I didn\'t get notice of your journal (grrr) and have just happened upon this, and you\'ve made me cry...thank you so much for all your care and thoughts and prayers. Blessed I am to have friends such as you. and, you know, Wanda, we\'re doing ok. We really are. One day at a time is all any of us can do, isn\'t it, and when you get in that bubble, and really focus on the moment, I\'m quite amazed by how we can, in the face of all that\'s going on, have REAL moments of happiness.
As Linda says - you and Steve, your great attitude, his wonderful tenacity, and fantastic response to Sutent - you really are a beacon for us. Hope he feels much better soon. Thank you dear Wanda. And, ps, for your info, i just wrote another journal!
lots and lots of love, Meriel x x x x

Dear Wanda,
Like you I don\'t get any notifications, and sadly I think I will be moving on from this site. I wish and hope that all of you who I sent my email will use it to keep in touch with me, and I with you as I would hate to lose our treasured bond.
Now, as to the two of you - I am so pleased that you do know how truly blessed you are to have had the wonderful long term close relationship that you have. He has endured so much, and with you at his side it is an inspiring story giving hope to others who tread here. Tom and I had 28 years (20 married) and that was not enough. I know that when you are happy, no amount of time will ever be enough. Hang tight.
