things went downhill.......

i need two more hours for practicum for school....i contacted a woman that has set me up before.....she told me to call her so we could "discuss this"....i knew immediately that something was wrong....my mom told me that it didn't mean anything, but i just KNEW it was gonna be bad.....i called her and she said that the interpreters don't feel comfortable letting me interpret because i don't have the skill set to interpret....they feel like i'm a very nice person and that i'm professional but that the students didn't get the message and that i'm just not ready.....i asked her to explain and she said that even for an art class i wasn't getting the message across even at an elementary school level....and that makes me fell so inadequate, that i haven't chosen the right career and that i just suck!!!!!!!!!!! so i'm feeling super low right now.....not thinking quite clear....i have a babysitting job from 4:30-10 and i think that'll go fine, but.....i just HATE my life right now!!! things were going great and then....the shoe drops....of course it happened.....OF COURSE

That would hurt, Val, but it doesn\'t mean you\'ve chose the wrong career path. When most of us first start out, we aren\'t pro\'s or expert\'s, usually. We know the basics but we get better through time and hands-on experience. Your right fit will come along, don\'t give up yet. Just b/c this one person didn\'t feel you were ready, it doesn\'t mean someone else won\'t. Stay strong, keep persevering and your time will come.

hey, sorry that you had this person say this to you.
Dont think of it as they are saying that you suck, maybe there was something that you could have done different.. if you where not getting your point across maybe ask to set a meeting up with the person you talked to and ask on how you can improve so that your point comes out clear. Use this as a learning opportunity.. Maybe they where looking for something else, or maybe what you thought was clear was confusing to some... that happens at times, or maybe it is something else completely different. but asking to have a meeting to talk and get feedback on how you can improve will not only show them that you are mature but that you have a great interest in what you are doing.
As for the remanding hours is there another place where you could get the last few hours?? or speak with your teacher on what is going on, and ask if she has any ideas. This shows that your interested, and that your trying to solve the issue, also tell your teacher what was said by the person, and also that you are going to follow up with them regarding how to improve yourself.
Best of luck if you want to talk Im here for you. Have fun babysitting, kids can make your day just let go of your issues and be a kid with them :)

Yeah, this was hurtful and insensitive. I agree with AurorasHope, the fact that you are not doing well in this moment doesn\'t mean that you will not be able to do it well later. It happened to me too when I was at the college. Keep trying. Nobody borns knowing everything.
