Things to Be Thankful for during Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 30, 2008 - 12:45 P.M. I am very glad that Thanksgiving is over for another year.  If someone placed another plate full of turkey in front of me, I do not think I could stand the sight of it.   While the Thanksgiving festivities were upon us, I neglected to make a list of some of the things for which I have been thankful for during the past year.  I am going to correct that oversight in my journal today.   1.  I am thankful that I have been in reasonably good health throughout most of the past year.   2.  I am thankful that I have been able to take some positive steps in getting closer and better relationships with my family.   3.  I am very thankful that many of the friends I have made at Daily Strength have come to my aid during the times when I have been extremely depressed and felt that life was no longer worth living.   4.  I am thankful that I have found the courage to begin talking openly with both my social worker and psychologist regarding the verbal, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse that I sustained at various periods throughout my life.   5.  I am very thankful that I am about to reach my goals to stop using crack cocaine, and to stop making suicidal plans.
