Things, Things & More Things
Went to Chicago to check on my aunt, assess her situation & hopefully got thru some of her affairs/paperwork. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, was not able to go thru the paperwork. But we did have a nice, long visit. Her immediate health is improving; however, her long-term prognosis is not good, as she has ovarian cancer and it is spreading. But my hope for her is to improve enough where she can go home, perhaps have health aides & later hospice helping out. She is on a ventilator & unable to communicate, other than nods & shakes of her head, so I’d love for her to get off that thing so she can talk and make her wishes known. That is my goal.
I was gone from Saturday morning till Sunday evening. Kids managed their Saturday showers on their own (as usual), but my son did not wash his hair (I’ve been helping him do it, since he was struggling with that, but I hoped he’d at least try, which he did not). Also, since my flight got in late, the kids had to fend for themselves for dinner. My daughter seemed to manage, but my son just waited till we got home to tell us he was hungry! (My husband grabbed a bite at the airport & I was unable to eat anything, due to the flight.) Eventually, though, he broke down & ate some Pop Tarts.
On a positive note, he surprised his German teacher today by being prepared with his homework. Yay!
I applied for a 0% interest balance transfer card, to help control my credit card debt from growing. Step by step, I feel that I’m moving in the right direction, financially.
At work, one of my former co-workers (an 82-year old retiree) was hit & run by a car while out bicycling. He is in ICU now & everyone is very upset about this. Such a sweet, smart man.
