Things & Stuff
Well as the holidays wind down life will also settle down I hope. Part of our Nov & alot of December just saw us with way too many appointments & things that needed to be taken care of & we're both tired of it. We've decided we're going to plan better & rather then have things scattered out over a number of days we'll group as much as we can into one day & make life more organized I hope.
Christmas was very quiet, we didn't do anything on Christmas Day. I made a non traditional dinner for hubby and I. I did T bone steak, mushrooms & turnips & baked potato. We watched It's A Wonderful Life & just stayed contentedly home with Angel of course.
We did have to go into the shelter for just a couple hrs in the morning. The kitties needed their dinners & a bit of christmas love & cleaning. We were just a couple hrs so it was OK & of course the love they return to you makes it so worth it.
Canada as sort of a part 2 christmas holiday, the 26th is Boxing Day. That day myself & my siblings & our spouses got together for lunch. It's strange though cause I'm not sure if I can actually say wow it was a great time or not. I feel sort of almost too neutral. I guess it could be as it's the first major holiday without dad that might have something to do with it.
I've been feeling not too bad lupus wise, no serious flare issues going on, some minor ones that come but don't last too long though so far. I might just have to admit that the methotrexate is probably helping me. I still have days, like the last 2, where I flare via my vasculitis rash & it will again fade in a couple days. I can really tell that my body is very sensitive to my overall lifestyle & pace of life hence why hubby & I are taking steps to help reorganize our days more.
Now, the diabetes is another issue by itself, as least for the last few wks. I've always had a tendency to be what they call a brittle diabetic, meaning that my blood sugar levels go up & down quite erratically sometimes. I've had 2 extreme low episodes where my blood sugar level just abt bottomed out. The one a couple evenings ago happened when we were just peacefully watching a movie on TV & my hubby happened to glance over to where I was sitting & I had just sort of passed out, bling! I can't really remember too much. He went & got my low blood sugar treatment stuff & I did come out of it but I don't know if I can describe how weird that is. You're conscious in life & then bingo just out of it. Normally a diabetic will get warning signs when your sugar level is dropping but not the last couple times. So I'm attacking back. I'm reducing the amt of insulin I take before each meal & before bed & am going to keep a food journal so I can see if I'm doing something wrong that I'm not aware of. The rash problem the last couple days co-insided with this episode so I'm starting to wonder if it's just my bodies way of letting the stress out.
Hubby & I are continuing to go to the gym as best we can, when we can. It's so admirable to see him try his best with the things there he can do. Having oxygen there to use while attempting to exercise is a huge bonus for him, he can really tell the difference it makes.
We're in the deep deep deep freeze here, windchill temp this morning is minus 43 so if anyone has any extra warm weather I'll take it, please!
Anywho I hope all my dear friends have a peaceful, fun & safe start to the new year.

So good to catch up with you, hubbie and Angel. Your Christmas sounds perfect. I know everyone says it\'s about family, and it is, but just being with those you cherish is more important, some family we don\'t cherish, right? I know this was hard without your dad too. Your plan to organize your activities makes alot of sense and you can just relax and rest if your not running all over the place. I didn\'t realize you are diabetic, that blackout must have been very scary, make sure hubbie keeps looking at you, but you\'re managing your levels well, from what I understand, it\'s all discipline, eh?
My DH just got home and he joined a gym! I\'m proud of him and hopefully that will get me motivated to do something similar. I\'m going to start yoga once a week, at my work, which will be interesting, only 30 minutes but its different. Your deep freeze is here, not -43 but man, it\'s cold out there. I lived in Saskatchewan for 4 years so I remember it, but it was a \'dry cold\' much easier to dress for than a \'damp cold\'..... We wish you the same for the new year. Thank you for your friendship, Kitty! HUGS
-43???!!!! oh my goodness! It\'s about 21 here without figuring in the windchill, so I guess this is balmy compared to your place.
I know what you feel about the neutral get together. That\'s how I feel about mine. Life changes and it can be hard to know how to adapt (like without your dad and so on).
I\'m sad to hear about your blood sugar problems but glad at least that lupus has levelled out. That\'s how I feel about my mtx. Life is better for me with it and I know my organs are safe(r) from attack with it, so I try to live with mine. Keep hoping we can ditch it though! Glad you had a nice, quiet Christmas.
I know how you feel about being tired of doc appointments. I started saying NO to some of the ones they wanted to schedule me for. I told them it was a lifestyle choice (seeing as how I am only in my 40s) and each time the doc would look at me (really look at me and consider) pause, and then say \"good for you.\" Kind of shocking lol.
I am proud of you and your hubby for keeping with the gym. That is a blessing and an inspiration! Happy New Year to you!
It was so ice to talk with you today. Happy you had such a good holiday with your hubby and Angel. I will read the rest of your journal later. My supper is done. Love and Happy New Year my precious friend. Love n hugs, Frieda
-43, wow! Amazing anything survives there. Guess I will quit complaining when we don\'t hit freezing for a month or so. Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas indeed. I\'m glad your lupus is behaving, but wish the diabetes would level out, geez. How scary that must be for both of you. Good thing your hubby knows what to do!
Take good care, as it sounds you are doing.
Much love for you my friend.
