things seem fine again
I believe T did cross over the line - but now, I know, he's back on track. His cage was rattled a bit and because of that - he stopped whatever he was doing. He didn't stop because he wanted to, I know that, but it is what it is. He lied about everything I put in front of him - he's good and very convincing but I know he wasn't tellling the truth. Now that things seemed to have settled not sure what the support team is going to do. Maybe nothing. Time will tell. Last night my husband and I attended a fundraising event for our Mayor at our local "fancy" restaurant. The place was closed off, except for the bar area. Anyway, I've known the mayor for years and campaigned for her 8 years ago when she was first running. I haven't done anything since, so this time we decided to go to the fundraiser and be a part of it after all the invites we were given over the years. Surprisingly, we didn't know very many people so my husband and I sat at a table and took advantage of the food and drink. Before we knew it, we had a nice group of people around us, including the Mayor. We had so much fun. Oh.....and then I noticed in the next room (bar area) was a man my husband calls my "boyfriend". My husband noticed that he kept looking in our direction. This fellow tried to pick me up a few years ago when my husband and I went to dinner at this particular restaurant we were at last night. Since our table wasn't ready, my husband's friends invited us to socialize with them in the bar area. It was the first time I met my husband tennis buddies and they were very outgoing and fun to talk to. One of them insisted that I take his spot at the bar. My husband and son (who joined us later) were sitting in a booth behind me. I didn't feel comfortable sitting at the bar but, at least, I could talk to one of his friends to the right of me. On the other side was a man I thought looked familiar. He starts up a conversation and I find out he knew my husband in Indian Guides, I think. He also had kids at the same school as ours. Well next thing I know he's trying to pick me up. And telling me he knew where I worked. He lived across the street from the preschool I taught at. I couldn't believe he was trying to pick me up - even with my husband there! Ironically, his daughter (who I never knew before) was one of the students who helped me with the suicide prevention fundraising, after that evening. He kept showing up at those events. It was weird. Well, I figured it out, later. It was before I really knew anything about alcoholism or addiction. Seeing him at the bar last night cemented it. Maybe he was always drunk? Who knows but how sad.
