Things I'm Grateful For
Now that we're in the aftermath of the hurricane, I've been seeing a lot of complaining & sourness among people. Granted, some folks lost so much & many are very inconvenienced right now. But there is so little patience from people, it makes me wonder what would happen if the situation were more serious.
So it's made me assess my own situation & I've found that I have a lot to be thankful for:
- neither me nor any of my family were injured in all this
- other than some sticks & small branches falling, we've had no property damage
- my power was out for less than a day
- although work's power was out for several days, much of it was running on generator so we could go in (including a coffee maker--yes!!)
- we haven't been trapped on our street or in our house
- on that note, I'm thankful that I don't live in Hoboken!
- most street lights are operational. And the couple that I've seen that had not been: people were actually obeying the rules of the road!
- highways & main roads are clear (though congested, since the backroads have many trees down)
- the hurricane wasn't higher than a Category 1. I don't even want to think about how much worse it could have been!
- work is only 10 minutes away & I don't have to take the train or subway to it.
There's probably so much more.
