Things are looking up

I had a setback this week (not on smoking, on my back) and have had to take med.s which I was pretty much off of (only had to take (2) 1/2s of muscle relaxers all last week until Memorial Day, when I went to my friends. I didn't even wear a bathing suit, so I wouldn't be tempted to get in the pool and jar my back (theirs is only about 4 feet deep the whole way for volleyball). BUT, sitting around and standing around was more than I could take. WAIT, WAIT, don't stop reading yet, this really is heading toward positive thoughts! This is what has finally dawned on my brain. I really have it pretty good. I mean how many people in my position could go to a job and lay around and talk to people and get paid? And how many people have bosses that say, "You have my permission to do whatever you need to for your back"? And how many people with serious back problems can leave after 6 hours work, go home, and get in a pool with a deep end and float around until relief comes? And how many people have friends that come and open said pool and pretty much keep it maintenanced, as well as have a friend that mows this HUGE yard (and weedeats) just to be able to use the pool? AND how many people have a niece that can drive them to Little Rock so they can lay down in the back seat on cushions the whole way, and have that same niece help with pretty much anything that needs doing within reason, especially getting the house more accessible and user friendly, and helping with the pool? And how many people have friends that call and check on them, and coworkers that check on them, and even internet friends that express concern, send hugs, etc. And now I found the back pain support group on DS. I am truly blessed, and I had lost sight of that. I mean, if this had been Little House on the Prairie days, pretty much NONE of that would have been available to me, much less the treatments. See, I told you it was going to be positive! I thank God daily for all of this and for my special DS friends. Thanks for the continued support. Keep the faith, and keep up the great quits! We smell better and are much healthier, too!
