Things are looking up
I had a setback this week (not on smoking, on my back) and have had to take med.s which I was pretty much off of (only had to take (2) 1/2s of muscle relaxers all last week until Memorial Day, when I went to my friends. I didn't even wear a bathing suit, so I wouldn't be tempted to get in the pool and jar my back (theirs is only about 4 feet deep the whole way for volleyball). BUT, sitting around and standing around was more than I could take. WAIT, WAIT, don't stop reading yet, this really is heading toward positive thoughts! This is what has finally dawned on my brain. I really have it pretty good. I mean how many people in my position could go to a job and lay around and talk to people and get paid? And how many people have bosses that say, "You have my permission to do whatever you need to for your back"? And how many people with serious back problems can leave after 6 hours work, go home, and get in a pool with a deep end and float around until relief comes? And how many people have friends that come and open said pool and pretty much keep it maintenanced, as well as have a friend that mows this HUGE yard (and weedeats) just to be able to use the pool? AND how many people have a niece that can drive them to Little Rock so they can lay down in the back seat on cushions the whole way, and have that same niece help with pretty much anything that needs doing within reason, especially getting the house more accessible and user friendly, and helping with the pool? And how many people have friends that call and check on them, and coworkers that check on them, and even internet friends that express concern, send hugs, etc. And now I found the back pain support group on DS. I am truly blessed, and I had lost sight of that. I mean, if this had been Little House on the Prairie days, pretty much NONE of that would have been available to me, much less the treatments. See, I told you it was going to be positive! I thank God daily for all of this and for my special DS friends. Thanks for the continued support. Keep the faith, and keep up the great quits! We smell better and are much healthier, too!

Some would find fault in themselves or their fate for their reliance upon others. Some would not share their heart out of concern that nobody would want to listen. Some would give in to their issues and resign themselves to a life of misery. But you, my dear friend, do none of that. Instead, you find the positives within your challenges, accept the challenges for what they are without allowing them to define you, and live your life to the best as you can. Because of that, you attract those who can and will support you in your life and work. Bless your heart, carried. You are a light and an inspiration to us all.
Well if it were Little House on The Prairie days I call being Laura...lol!!!! I grew up on that show and loved it! It is a positive entry and I\'m so delighted to hear you are letting people in to love you and care for you. You have an amazing spirit!
I think lots of people fall into the trap of thinking that taking medication for a serious health condition is somehow bad. I believe that doing things medication-free is a good goal. And I also believe that we should all be really careful about using certain kinds of medications, particularly the ones used for pain management. But if something happens that requires medication use, it is not a moral failing. You don\'t get a black star on your chart. It just means you overdid it or the condition is really acting up or you slept the wrong way, or whatever, and you are at a place where you have to use some meds. That\'s all it means. I say this because I think that you are in for kind of a long haul here, with your condition, and I hope you go easy on yourself about using meds and don\'t allow it to bring you down. I also hope you don\'t make the mistake of skipping meds when you need them, because you don\'t want to be a person who uses them. I think you should use every tool you have to fight this thing, and not waste time feeling bad over using meds - provided you use them responsibly. I love your list of blessings and I\'m glad that you have each of them. Have a great weekend and here\'s to floating!
