Things are lookin up
My AD is out of intake. We will be visiting her for the first time in prison on Saturday! I can wait to see her. She hasnt been getting her crohns meds since in prison so she is going into a flare up. But that doesnt seem to stop the good mood she is in. She is sad over her bf death but so many new things are happening that she is dealing with it. She is excited about a bit more freedom being out of intake. And able to start classes. She has been giving and honor for not being a trouble maker. She says she has changed and cant wait to get home to prove it. All sounds so good. She sounds like she did years ago before the drugs took hold of her life. I am just so apprehensive. I really hope and pray that she sticks to the new person she is going back to. Her old sweet self. Wish I could just be excited for her as she is. But so on guard. She still has time for it all to sink in and maybe I do too.

Hi Brenda,
How much time is your daughter need to serve? My daughter has been in 18 mos. Her personality is now the one I always knew was there but masked by the years of drug abuse. I\'m glad you are seeing the changes in your girl too. There is always hope. I think the women with our daughters now are also clean & sober so they support one another for the most part. Once my daughter met women that had been serving time for a while they helped her learn how to adapt and come to an acceptance of the situation. If you can obtain her medical records about the Crohns and what meds she needs that will help her get access to care once she is in the prison. You are going to feel so much better once you see your daughter. Before my visits I convince myself I am not going to allow myself to cry in front of her. They need us to be strong to help them keep it together. Good luck and enjoy your time with her.
Oh I\'m so happy that you finally will get to see your Daughter!! I was such a mess until I finally got to see my Son (still a mess at times) but once I saw him & talked to him, I felt so much better!! I hope that happens for you as well! Doesn\'t make where they are any easier but it does give us that \'sigh of relief\' just to see them with our own eyes!!
Just keep taking one step at a time & enjoy your visit!!
It\'s normal to be apprehensive. But she could just be ready for this change. She has the support of you and others.
My fiance only has me. He hasn\'t done so well when he got out before, but we are hoping this time it works. He is excited to be in a class that is to help him once he gets out to get a job. But it teaches many other things, like interpersonal relationship skills, and other things that make them do what they do. He also works hard at a job in there, and he signs up for anything they offer. So I am hopeful this time.
My son was a drug dealer, and very much into drugs. He has been out now over 4 years and doing great. He did get hooked on pain killers when he got injured, but took himself to a methadone treatment center. Goes to it every day for counseling, and also gets a shot of some kind to kill his urge for the drugs.
He has been changing so much. Has a HUGE family now. Lots of kids. Says his kids are his inspiration to get it right this time. Last night he told me him and another guy started a tree trimming business. He has been accumulating equipment for awhile now. He hooked himself up with a successful friend. They already have many jobs lined up.
He takes his kids to fun, family things like bike trail rides, the zoo, all the things parents should do. He is focused so much now on his kids, and family, not the old stuff.
I truly never thought this would happen. He was really not a good person for quite awhile. But finally he has got it right and I am so happy, and proud of him.
I thought maybe you needed to hear a success story. It does happen. Andy is proof.
I am very glad you will get to see her. And just think how good it will feel to hug her for the first time, and see her clear, pretty eyes and her smile. I know you need that.
I no longer have to wonder what kind of call I will get in the middle of the night about him. My worry was always would he be killed, or die of an overdose, which he had had before, or if he would be arrested. When he was arrested, I had no clue for a few days how bad it was going to be. But he said prison saved his life in many ways. He told me as I was crying, visiting him, \" This is where I needed to be, mom.\" And it was.
Yes I am glad that I do not get those phone calls, is she arrested, is she overdosing or does she just want something from me. I dont miss those calls at all. She has been sentenced to 26 months from one county and 16 from another but they will run at the same time. thank you for the sucess story! yes I did need that.
Oh and the Crohns meds is not on their list so she is seeing someone to get them started again.
