Things Are Back on Track

Saturday, July 4, 2009 - 10:15 A.M. This afternoon I am going to a birthday party for my niece's husband. He called me late yesterday afternoon, to tell me about the party, and to invite me there. I was told that it would only include family members, so that makes me feel better about going there.   While it seems to me that it was a last-minute invitation, it still left me with 15 minutes to arrange my transportation. I need to call my niece this morning just to tell her that I will be there, and the approximate time that I will arrive.   I think it will be good for me to get away from home, even if it is only for a few hours. Maybe the change of scenery, and people, will help me feel better about my life.   Things turned out better than I thought they would last night. The CNA who is causing all my problems arrived here on time, but the second one was an hour late because she substituted for someone else and took on another client, which made her run late. She called me three times to let me know what was happening, as well as to tell me that she was on her way but stuck in traffic.   I thought that the CNA who was already here with me would have a fit about having to wait so long, but she kept her cool, and hung in there. After they had put me to bed, and were getting ready to leave, the CNA asked me if I had made any decisions about what time I wanted them at my apartment.   I told both of them that I was not trying to cause any trouble between them, and all I wanted them to do was to follow what was on my care plan. I also reminded them what time I was supposed to go to bed each night, and told them not to come here before then. I said that I would be here when I was scheduled to go to bed, and would be waiting on them each night.   As far as I'm concerned, that ends everything. I am not going to fight with anyone, and if either one of them is not happy working for me, they can quit and go somewhere else.
