They Don't Blame Me?

I was driving my kids to youth group. It was the first time in a long time that my son went. (Since he'd graduated from high school, he's felt kind of out of place to go there, until he learned a few of his friends were still going.)Anyway, we quickly got to talking. We talked about how Mean Sister & I got along as kids & I said even though she was a pest, I wasn't a perfect sister either. And I talked about how hard it is to be a mom, too, and that I have a lot of regrets. That maybe if I did things differently, I could have influenced their choices better (although I did acknowledge & appreciate all the things that they DIDN'T do!).But my son said that many of his choices had nothing whatsoever to do with me--that so many other factors were at play in his decisions. Even my daughter said she didn't blame me for anything, except maybe "that time of the month"! I had to laugh & tell them that I think they are the only teenagers that don't blame their mom for things that go wrong in their lives!Anyway, the conversation kind of surprised me. And made me feel a little bit better as a mom.
