They Did It!!! National Champions!

Well track season is officially over.  We picked my husband and son up from the airport Saturday at 11:45pm and my son draped two medals around my neck.  I was unable to make the AAU Junior Olympics in Texas, just too expensive to take the entire family.  Anyway, AAU had the events via live stream over the Internet so it was almost like being there.  I was glued in front of my laptop yelling for my son and his team through the screen to run, go, go, you can don't it, don't let them catch you!
Well, he went to the AAU Junior Olympics qualified to run in 4 events, the 800m, 400m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay.  As, I mentioned in my last post he also ran in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics in Maryland.  The games locations change to different parts of the country each year since they are national events.  So, he ran Thursday - Sunday where he got 3 medals, hopped on a plan Monday morning and then went straight to the track for AAU JO games.  He ran 3 of the 4 events, just missed qualifying for the last spot for the semi-finals for the 800m, and didn't run the 400m to give his relay team a better chance to medal and it worked!  My son and his team are the National Champions in the 4x100m relay for his age group.  They have the fastest time run at a national event this year!    They won the gold and are AAU All Americans.  My oldest son watched on the computer with me as they ran that race and was just laughing because I was jumping up and down screaming and cheering for them just like I was there.  What a great feeling.  I am so happy and pround of them.  The smiles on thier faces was priceless.  The also medaled in the 4x400m.
Now that track is over football conditioning starts today .  It never ends, but I love it.  Thanks for letting me share.

Congratulations! I know you are proud of your son. You should be. That is a big accomplishment. I bet it was neat watching it on the internet. We get to do high school football. Let the fun begin.
