Therapy 1

Alright, so yesterday I attended my first therapy session. Must say it went really well and I wasn't as nervous as I thought I'd be. Guess it helped that her office was in the same building that my mom used to work in before her company got its own building. It also helped that she was about 20 years younger than I thought she was. It was a very relaxed setting as you might imagine. We basically talked about about my depression, fears, and just my basic life. It wasn't easy, but I was able to tell her that I wanted to start hormones and eventually become female. She told me she was honored that I came to her for that help and I felt very relieved that she felt that way. I know she'll be a great help to me.
Through it all she really gave me some great advice and help and really made me think differently. She gave me some goals that I should challenge myself to do, and I will try my best to reach those goals. She also taught me this really calming breathing technique that really made me feel calmer and made my mind feel lighter. I wish we had started the session out with that so I would've been a lot more at ease.
As for the gender change, she told me what I should do next is do some research and find a doctor that A) I can afford and B) has experience in that area. So basically, I'll need to find a doctor, preferably a female, for some reason I just feel a lot more comfortable around women then men. And a few a meetings with them. And then get approval from her (the therapist) to go ahead and start hormones. I must say, I was kind of on edge about becoming a woman and everything. Wasn't completely sure of myself if it's what I wanted, but once it was over and I got home, I knew it was what I wanted. So I must really thank her for that. I'm not sure I really want to start it now, but maybe sometime in the summer.
I am currently on Spring Break, so I'll have plenty of time to find a doctor. My hope is that maybe by June I can start hormones. That would just be super. But I understand these things take time, so I'm comfortable with it whenever it starts.
I have a few questions for anyone who reads this and maybe has had similar experiences. In looking for a doctor, what exactly should I be searching for? Just like gender change doctors or something? I feel that isn't specific enough. I had some other questions, but I just can't think of them right now. But thank you all for reading :)
