The Wedding

The first of Oct was whe Ken felt his tongue was swelling...but we did not know to what would be next....His daughter was to get married the end of Oct and no matter what he was going to give her away...one of his wishes before he passed away, it that was to be the outcome.
The doctor's were telling us it was the change in the medicines which can cause that...but one night before the wedding I called Ken's youngest brother and shared with him about the wedding and how I was worried about Ken...As usual not to my knowledge soon as we hung up he pack his bag and headed from Florida to AL...He was the total blast that was needed at the wedding...he is the type that just jumps in and makes every thing fun...trying to overcome the bad.
One day while he, Ken and i was sitting in the Conference room before the  wedding he was trying to tell us something but got so frustrated he could not get the words formed as I was handing him my phone to text...that he was great at...It was them that I knew something other than medicine was wrong...Ken not to be able to make words...yet they had always told us this cancer rarely went to the brain....but we sit there and Shawn being Shawn...has us 3 laughing our heads off...even Ken making motions for us to understand...
The wedding day came..My granddaughter (Ken's daughter" has asked me to make our favorite family get-together chocolate grave(pudding home made) over butter buscuit..I was so tired I tried to to get out of it but relented which I will forever be thankful for...
That morning God had his hand in the cooking...I was cooking for a roomfull and the most I had made this for was six.  The homemade biscuits were perfect...and the chocolate gravy...must have been made and sent down from heaven...It was perfect to the top...
Ken was late but when he came in wow how handsome he looked...He headed straight for mom special made breakfast....he ate more than I had seen him eat in weeks...and hugged me for making it...I am thankful that God had his hand in that..
The wedding was beautiful but I know the bride is to outstand anyone but the best looking one was my son Kenny.  He had on his black suit, his red shirt (AL Colors"), his pull over vest sweater and suitcoat and as much as we tried to get him to wear the shoes that did not hurt his feet so bad...his clogs and I wish I never had to see them again , but no he was wearing his black shinny shoes...Handson as he could be, but at the same time you could see the pain the sickness the darkness under his eyes...but he was going to do it...
The wedding came and dinner was served...as much as I wanted to spend every moment by his side I had to leave him space....but the joy that leaped in my heart as after he got his food he came straight to mom's table and sit by me....joy overseeds whatever feelings I could have that moment.....
He stayed for the reception so much longer than I know his body felt like it, but that was Ken..determined to do things right the way it is suppose to be...he was the daddy.
Of all the weddings I have or will ever attend...that will be the one that makes my heart beat a little faster....how much I miss and love that son of mine...
You did a great job on this earth son, you out did a lot more than some would have...your faught a good fight...know enjoy the rewards your deserve in Heaven...
Forever your mom and thanks for all the memories...Love mom

What a beautiful story!! I am so glad Kens\' daughter had her daddy at her wedding. His beautiful spirit carried him high, way above his pain. Love is the strongest emotion and can move mountains. Now....about that chocolate gravy..... I have heard of it before, but don\'t know how to make it. You have \"flung\" a craving on me, lol. How do you make it?? (((HUGS)))...Julia

I will be glad to give the receipe for the Breakfast Chocolate Pudding...but I am one of those that do a little of this and little of that..so will do my best when I feel better...as I said God had his hand in that day...as it was a heavenly, couldn\'t have been any better..so I know I was not alone and so glad that I did it even though having been up hours at a time..watching my Ken enjoy it will be forever etched in my mind...

My SIL used to make soming like that, it was great. I never did learn the receipe. I know my grand kids would love that one.
Our children amaze us when they grow up. everything we try to teach them did sink in. They did turn out to be good people with knowledge (we gave them) they were awsome.

I just loved hearing about what great parents our children grew up to be! Your story brings tears to my eyes. I love that Ken wore his good shoes, instead of his clogs! Love you, Abby. Big Hugs!
