The Waiting

Waiting sure is hard for me. Tom Petty's song on the subject was engraved in my neural pathways long before it reached Number One in 1981. It is playing in my head now, as I type. I love the music in my head. Physics won't allow for the arrangements I can create there. I almost feel sorry for the folks who can't tune in.

I started tending the FIL business up here in August of last year. With all the family drama surrounding the FIL's decline and departure, this piece of his possessively guarded business has mostly been put on hold. Too little knowledge of the old man's business was available and domestic chaos makes for lousy study conditions. I started the survey of this line in his portfolio in October, a few weeks after the funeral. 5 months is a lo-o-o-ong survey. I've worked compound construction projects which completed the survey portion of the project in fewer days. But. . . I don't really believe it is a fair comparison. I mostly believe it is a different phase, altogether. I was just a hired hand on those other projects. I remain clueless on what was going on in the fancy cars doing the mucking tours over our shoulders. Am I gaining my first clues now?

Dunno. . .

Hubs got an email from the other branch of the family tree yesterday attempting to establish protocol for shared ownership of this property. I have been fighting off flashbacks to the FIL and his employee entourages ever since. I don't really know the BIL and SIL well enough to guess their lives outside MIL/FIL planned events. This step needs to happen between the brothers and the BIL is far enough advanced in the Huntington's Disease that he really does need his wife to act on his behalf in all of this. She looks like an amazing supporter in his handling of the family curse from where I am sitting. Their in-law ^it^ makes allot more sense to me than MIL/FIL secrecy where I was left believe my MIL was *just* meaner and less predictable than a rattle snake.

Sorting. . . Small steps, big faith and lots of prayer.

My thoughts are with you as this challenge is faced with 'family politicking'...I was amazed with the "its" which took place, and the words with the passing of my dear Mother! Step-father was left nothing, he was on the phone with an attorney to see if he could contest the will....while other family members were down stairs, writing obituary....never mind he was kicked out of hospital by Mother's dr because he was harassing her, and the years of torment emotionally due to behaviors less than desirable....Prayer Works! Best to you, ml
