The Thanksgiving Weekend...

So, time for another journal update....Thanksgiving 2008 was a good one, I am glad to say! Everything went well, and was, for the most part, a quiet, enjoyable event. My mom (she has Parkinson's Disease) was 'in charge' of the kitchen, and my Dad and I worked under her supervision! Keeps her busy, and that's a good thing. She planned the menu, and we carried out her 'orders', which kept both of them occupied. They seem to work well together on these little projects! My Dad was so excited, he couldn't sleep the night before....he was up at 4 a.m. cooking the turkey. He likes that job, and wants to do that every year. He had almost everything under way when I went over to help. My 'assignment' was to make dressing and gravy, and help finish everything else. My brother and his family were in charge of desserts and beverages. I think everyone really enjoyed being together, and of course, we all enjoyed the good food! My little nephew (well, not so little any more....he's 14 going on 30) ate, got the tv remote, chose a channel, and went to sleep! My step-nephew (he's in his early 20's) decided to go to his girlfriend's, and bypass us this year. Guess we'll see him around Christmas time. Actually, I haven't seen him since last Christmas! He lives about 4 hours away; so, it's rare that we see him. After the 'festivities' were complete, I think everyone went home and napped on full stomachs! The exciting news for the holidays....I have a friend that is, as she says, a 'lifelong friend'. Her daughter surprised us all with a new little baby girl! We weren't expecting her to arrive until December, but she decided to have a November birthday instead! I haven't met her in person yet, but have received pictures from her Mimi and Poppy, and spoke with her mom for a few minutes while they were in the hospital! She's a little doll, and I look foreward to meeting my 'great-neice' very soon! She and her Mom are both doing okay, and have gone home now. She has a 2 year old brother, and so far, he's happy to have a little sister! So, big, big congratulations to everyone on welcoming the little one to the world!Hope all my friends here have a great week, and lotsa good things happen for everyone!
