The Strings to Blame

Life is a production except that it’s free to see
With actors and painted scenes
A constant encounter with drama
Reality, a person’s worst dream

One heartbreak then we are tied to the handle
You, and me our misery is just beginning
The strings are never ending
Our spotlights never dim like a burnt out candle

Each frail knot upon the planks of wood that you see from afar
Represent our every weak spot
They show how powerless we really are
As we’re sold and bought by those who don’t care

I am held up by bundles of twine
Put out on the stage for the whole world to see
Makeup covers every inch of emotion, no feelings underlined
I am not the girl that I used to be

My words are chosen for me
My actions moved by string
I’m tossed around like a wooden being
Not a person but a thing

Love breaks my heart
Betrayal soothes my soul
The world is rather sickening
When the truth is told

If you really think about it
We are all the same
Just puppets in a show, misfits
There's nothing but the strings to blame
