the story

I am 23 years old and just experienced a miscarriage with my son. I was 23 weeks pregnant and his name is Jace. I was having a somewhat normal pregnancy, except for the fact that I experienced some bleeding a few times during my first trimester. I was so scared the first time it happened, went to the e.r., and he was still very much alive and healthy. I read up, and determined that a lot of women have bleeding early on, with even multiple pregnancies. This assured me that, though unsettling and uncommon, it was not a detrimental occurrence. A couple of nights ago during my 23rd week, my boyfriend and I were having sex. I began to have cramps and told him I needed to rest. I quickly started having contractions about 30 seconds apart. We called an ambulance, as he needed to stay home with my stepson, and I was transported to labor and delivery with an unfathomable urge to push which I resisted. When I got to the hospital, my mother was in the room they brought me to. My boyfriend had called her in a panic, and she and my stepfather were already there. I was having the worst pain I had ever experienced. I resisted the urge to push, still. For what seemed like forever, I lay on the table and endure debilitating contractions. The ultrasound determines that my baby boy's tiny heart is beating, but I can tell from hearing it a few times that it is slow. There are 3 or 4 nurses there, and a doctor tells me that I'm going to deliver. I'm dilated to 5 cm and the baby is coming. I started to get sick, and simultaneously my water broke. It wasn't long after my water broke that he faded away, I suppose. There was no monitoring of him after that. It was explained to me that it was highly unlikely to save his life at this point. I was pumped full of pain killers. It didn't really help. I was in labor for about 6 hours after that. I was pretty out of it with the pain killers, and about an hour after my epidural, my boyfriend showed up. I fealt the urge to push and a sweet nurse delivered my gorgeous son. 1 lb and 12 oz, 12'' long. I did not look at him first, because I was scared. This beautiful nurse took him, bathed and dressed him, and presented him to me in a wicker bassinet. I touched his hands and feet and even held him briefly. I mostly looked at him and cried. No one else wanted to see him, but I needed to say goodbye..and I'm so glad I did. I am home now, after two nights in the hospital. I don't know how I feel. I honestly can't explain it. I need someone to talk to, and I need closure. I want my baby boy in my arms so badly. I feel like he is somewhere and I can't reach him. I feel like I can't and shouldn't go on without him. Someone please help me.

I\'ve recently lost my twins Ava and Phoenix and saw your story. It brought me to tears. I am so sorry for your loss. It hurts so badly to not have our much wanted, much loved babies here with us. My longtime incredibly loving and supportive boyfriend and I are devastated as this as it comes after multiple losses. Everyone expects us to pick up and move on like they never mattered. It really is the most tragic form of a loss to loose a child. I have PTSD from all my losses and have to endure flashbacks every day making me feel like I\'m at that point again. I\'m so upset and no one understands but my boyfriend. I can\'t talk to a counselor or third party about it even now. It\'s too hard. I\'m so sorry for your loss.

Thanks for your kind words. I\'m in terrible need of someone who understands my feelings and doesn\'t think I\'m obsessive, Jace is literally all I think about

You\'re not obsessive at all. He was your son. You loved him and you didn\'t expect this to happen. None of us that loose our babies expect to loose them. It\'s really hard and people who don\'t understand don\'t make it better. Whoever said you were obsessive doesn\'t understand your pain and has never been there. There are people in my life now who are asking about all the pregnant people in my life knowing what I\'m going through, and I feel like I\'m being made to feel selfish by some of them for losing my babies and thinking of how I feel but I won\'t accept what they think about that because I know I am grieving right now and it\'s important to me that I recognize my babies\' lives when they were inside me. I have a lot of memories of that and loved them every second of their lives. I\'m sure you have those memories too. My advice is to keep support from those who understand you are hurting now. You are grieving the loss of a child and that\'s the biggest loss there is.

I am so sorry for your loss.
My boyfriend and I lost our daughter at 29 weeks 2 days. I had a perfect pregnancy. On May 20th, about an hour before I got off of work, I started having very uncomfortable feelings in my stomach then I started getting cramps in my lower back, but I wasn\'t bleeding. I left work and got home maybe 10 minutes later I was soaked with blood. My mother rushed me to the hospital)my boyfriend was 4 hours away for work that day) and on the way there I called him to let him know what was going on. I was so scared.. When we got to the hospital, multiple nurses and doctors confirmed that my beautiful little daughters heart was no longer beating. They told me that my placenta tore away from my uterus and I bled into her space and she, very quickly, ran out of oxygen. I couldn\'t believe it.. I felt like I was in a horrible horrible dream, I still do..
My boyfriend finally arrived after me being at the hospital for 5 hours. All he did was hug me and cry and cry. All I could think was that I could not believe that we just lost our baby, so quickly, so suddenly..
I wasn\'t dialated at all and my cervix was just not ready because I was only 29weeks. I was in labor for 24 hours. At 9:39pm on May 21st, I delivered my perfect, beautiful little angel, Nova-Lee Rose. She weighed 2.8lbs and was 15 inches long. Everything about her was/is perfect. It took me 19 minutes to push out her tiny, lifeless little body. It was the absolute hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. I wish I would have heard her cry. I wish I could have just held her forever.

I know how you are feeling. I think about her literally, ALL of the time. I want to talk about her, all of the time. I am having sure bad pregnancy fever. I would be 35 weeks this coming Monday and I just wish I was still pregnant..
I wish I could give you a hug. if you would ever like to chat, I would be more than happy..
