The Scare of my life!

OMG!  I lost 10 years of my life today!  Working from home.  Not a bad day so far.  David says, "I am going out to ride my bike."  I say ok, put your helmet on.  I get a call 10 minutes later.  David was in an accident.  Paul grabbed keys, I grabbed purse and we both ran.  No locked doors, tv on, etc.  David is about 4 blocks away in the next neighborhood, laying on ground, screaming.  OMG!  Blood everywhere, his face purple and he just keeps screaming someone help me!  and I am hurt!  Apparently "hit" and run.  Car swerved and missed him and he went head first through the rear window of a parked car with no helmet!!!!!!!!!  We live right on the PA/DE border, but in DE.  So Paul is calling 911 and yelling at a dispatcher in PA, saying "no, we need an ambulance and we are in DE."  So Paul goes off to rush him to the hospital himself.  He did not want to wait.  Did I say, OMG?!!  The one neighbor had to come help me get the bike out from underneath the rear of the car.  Wow.  He hit the rear of the car with so much force the whole tire went under the bumper and stuck there.  Ran home with the bike.  Trying to find keys.  Can't find purse.  Realize I left it in Paul's car along with my cell phone.  Grabbed my work cell.  Called Mom and had her talk to me the whole way in the car.  Needed to hear her voice so I could focus on driving and not what was going on at the hospital.  Get to hospital.  Pauls car parked right in front of emergency room.  Get in there.  David is in guerney with 40 doctors around him and neck brace and they cut his clothes off.  OMG!  I just broke down!  But they assure me, he is ok.  Took him up to do CAT scan.  They are calling my son the miracle child.  ALL tests were negative.  2 chipped front teeth, couple of scratches.  That's it!  No stitches, no broken bones, no brain swelling, not a single scratch on his head.  We are "assuming" concussion at this point because of the seriousness of the accident.  He never lost consciousness.  And I just bawled again. I pray, pray pray.  Not that any mother EVER wants their child to be injured, but he got read the riot act from the poice officer, the doctors, the nurses.  I am praying he learned his lesson about wearing that stupid helmet and that MOM doesn't just say things to be mean!  Praying he learns to listen to me more.  OMG!  This could have been so, so bad.  His mouth is a little sore and he had difficulties eating a meatball sandwich tonight.  Paul is going to take him to the pediatrician tomorrow for a follow up (check his eyes, etc.)  and we have to schedule an appointment for the dentist.  I am SO drained.  Just got back a bit ago.  Thank God we have a wonderful childrens hospital 5 miles away!   I am just bawling with relief as i type this.  I am going to have a mojito and chill.  I am beat!  I want to KILL HIM!   OK, on to normal stuff:  yesterday, got in over 10,000 steps!  Took dog for 45 minute walk.  Was still then 1500 steps or so short of 10k, so "jogged" around the house at 11pm until I got to 10,100!  Food good yesterday.  Had Chinese, tropical chicken, some rice and a Spring roll.  Even got some water in yesterday.  Got up early today.  Not only got to the Y, but did my 35 minute treadmill, & lower body weights and abs and got him early.  Work is still brutal.  Got fire number 3 for the week and it is only Tuesday.  Another long time co-worker quit who handles fires.  So the struggle will continue.  Had my high fiber oatmeal for breakfast, 1 slice of bread (plain white, need to get some multigrain high fiber bread), fat free hot dog and baby carrots.  Got another "run" with the bike back to my house.  I am well over 10k for today's steps.  Ate a small meatball sandwich for dinner (no cheese, NO potato chips.)  Got lots of water in today.  (Still not where I need to be, but obviously had one of those days today.) Oh, my TOM started today.  With full blown cramps in the hospital.  So no wonder I was EXTREMELY emotional on top of what I was going through.  2 fires to inspect tomorrow with new trainee.  Going to pack a bag with water and some healthy snacks.  Changing my smile face to green and counting my blessings!  For the happy ending!
