the saga continues....
Well, after our campus visit we paid a 1/4 of the tuition until we see what financial aid we'll get. That's why we were there. We also stopped by my new friend, the college admissions director for him to meet my son and husband. The director said we'd get 100% back after one week, 90 % the next, and the third week it's even lower but his transcripts would show W's. So......we'll see. J is excited about school so......?? J's friend was downtown waiting for J to be finished so that they could meet one of the professional baseball players. J was annoyed because he had had plans to meet his friend earlier but the extra meeting with the admissions guy made him late. So he was a bit irritated by that and he was tired. And then we announce that we have an appointment set up with him and a drug counselor and us tomorrow. We told him we know and, of course, he denied it. He did admit to smoking pot occasionally- as if that is okay. He told us that he isn't going to go to the meeting. I jumped and and said that he'll lose everything then - school and phone. He said he doesn't care. I talked to him later and told him we love him and have major concerns about him - he didn't want to listen.....

So what IS the root of his problem? You are right on in getting him to a drug counselor. There is definitely more to this than he\'s admitting. When he comes back with \"I don\'t care\" you know it\'s a warning sign. Sure hope he will cooperate! This is tougher than T because J is over 18 and in college. The drug supply is a big problem. If you are giving them to him one by one, where is he getting the rest? Be strong and dilligent. Love to you! D.
If he \"loses everything\" and the response is \"I don\'t care\" is this because he doesn\'t believe you or loss of hope associated with onset of another serious depression? On a personal note, how are the consequences tied to the behavior...Perhaps therapy is a condition of living at home... and school is an opportunity to succeed or fail given his level of effort. Ultimatums are tough!!! Hang in there, I am hoping that he J chooses therapy!!!!!!!! I am thinking of you and hope that soccer is providing a much needed outlet. Take Care!!!!!!!!!!
You\'re doing a great job and are heading the right direction for sure! I know everything will be okay, you are a great Mom!!!
