The Red Perv Suit

Changing my plans to return to the Urban Homestead for Xmas got me putting on my Santa Suit and braving the shopping crowds this weekend. In the best of conditions, I am the world's lousiest condition. Mix in stress conditions, like an impending storm or holidays, and I become a complete basket case. I will do without before I navigate a rush crowd. I am a make-do artist, so I even enjoy the challenge of doing without. But. . . It has been 9 months since I have occupied my maternal throne in the Urban Homestead. Between honest nostalgia and the guilt over abandoning my post, putting on the red perv costume seemed a logical thing to do. I even bought generic wrapping paper and Xmas specific gift boxes.

I finished the shopping chore yesterday and stuffed the gift boxes last night. All that is left is to wrap the gifts which don't fit into the gift boxes and get the collective to the Post Office. Of course the gifts will get there after Santa Day, but. . . Isn't it the thought which counts?

My gut hurts. Don't know if I will ever get over my traumatic awareness of the class of men who are available for those temporary, low-pay shopping mall santa jobs. . .

It appears some things are disturbingly persistant (hopefully not permanent) kind of like traditions in general. Icky

What ever happened to valuing the spontaneity of life. A lost art taken over by the red suit, the buck toothed bunny and my personal favorite freaking Cupid! Triple hugs

Yay me!!! I got all the packages wrapped. Gonna put of the mailing another day so that I can attempt to beat the crowd by being there at opening time tomorrow. Probably. We see how the energy flows this afternoon. For now, I am celebrating the fact that I got the wrapping done without too much flashback drama.

Still no word from the contractor. Last communique had me expecting them yesterday or today. Today is more than half gone. Sigh. . .

You made me smile! (I hate wrapping. This year I'm making my daughter do it all. I'm happy for you that it's done!!!!)
