The puzzle of Michael Jackson
To be perfectly honest I can not for the life of me understand why this particular subject has been posted on DS!?!? I can't believe that a-n-y-b-o-d-y is spending even a small part of their own life dwelling on Michael Jackson. Yes, it is a loss. Yes, it is sad. Yes, we should have compassion for his family members and those closest to him who really cared about him. However, it is so disappointing to think that he should be lauded as the "second coming" with endless media coverage. Cowboy 357, who wrote here on July 14th, has said it all. Despite what we each might think of the military action that is going on in the world now, I feel that we should support...a-n-d recognize....the military personnel and their families who are giving up a major portion of their lives. I received an email today that hits on what I have just said. It gave this link: http://dailynightly.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/07/11/265756.aspx. Please check it out. This man is a r-e-a-l hero who should be recognized!!!! I should say here that deserved recognition doesn't always have to do with the military.....this is just one example of the inequity in our society and it is a sad commentary on human nature. Michael Jackson's support of charities, his musical talent, whether or not the legal actions brought against him are true, whether or not he was homosexual, whether or not drugs caused his death have nothing to do with the fact that enough is enough. Yes, recognize talent and humanitarian endeavors; but, please folks get real and put things into perspective. Apparently some people have lost sight of the fact that there are low-profile people everywhere who are dedicating their lives to helping others in many ways and that there are men and women who are dying in a number of places in the world. How can a person giving up time and their family life in order to help others in their community or losing his/her life (and their families losing their loved ones) compare to a celebrity who has millions of dollars at his disposal and lives a high-profile life. Again, let me say that what I’ve said has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not MJ was talented, lived a good life, did good deeds, etc., etc........... JUST THINK ABOUT THIS FOLKS, WE ONLY HAVE A SHORT TIME ON THIS EARTH SO WHY NOT SPEND IT LIVING OUR O-W-N LIVES rather than vicariously living through a bigger-than-life entainment figure. All we ever see of these people is the facade that they show to their fans. There is no way that we can know who they really are. Agree with me or not please think about what I’ve said here........and then go on to live your personal lives in the very best way you can.
