The Power of Prayer

What a day!  First I should say that while my husband's last day of work was September 30th, his employer had agreed to pay for our medical insurance til March 2011.  (His boss is a total disgusting, selfish jerk who felt threatened by my DH, but the Board of Directors and all of his clients LOVE my DH and insisted that he get special treatment over all the other executive level people that were laid off).  But, for some odd reason, the boss "ACCIDENTALLY" canceled our medical insurance effective 9/30!!  So, even though we spend most of our days at Children's hospital, everything from 9/30 on has been without medical!!  AAAAH!!  LOL  So, we are trusting that it really IS an accident and that they will retroactively reinstate us...
We ended up leaving home this morning at 4:45 because we were worried about traffic.  (WE ARE NOT MORNING PEOPLE!) LOL  This meant a bit of tension on the drive and traffic was STILL so horrible that we were late for the 7:30 check-in.  But, after our grueling trip, the hospital was wonderful and got us right in.
So here is the funny & awesome part...First we got TWO neurologists.  The doctor who was technically assigned to Sophia, reviewed her case and decided it was too complex for him, and he called in one of the senior doctors on staff...who happened to LOOK EXACTLY LIKE MY HUSBAND'S EVIL EX-BOSS!!!  LOL  I instantly disliked him.  (awful of me!)  He had the personality of a wet dishrag, while the younger one was VERY friendly & GREAT with Sophia.
But, leave it to me to unfairly judge the senior doctor...LOL  While he does NOT have a good bedside manner, and he is unfortunately the spitting image of a horrible person who has hurt our family tremendously, he was AMAZING!!  He spent an hour and 1/2 examining Sophia and talking to us.  He was VERY disappointed with the way so many people have dropped the ball on Sophia's care so far, which gave us hope that there are still many stones left unturned!!  For example, he was shocked that with CHRONIC back pain and stomach pain, no one has EVER taken an ultrasound of her stomach, kidneys, gall bladder, bladder, etc.  He ordered one immediately!  He also had some ideas about changes to her migraine medicine that might make her more comfortable, too.
He is also meeting with the Rheumatologist and several other specialists to see what parts of Sophia might be helpful to scan via MRI in helping to diagnose her properly, especially since they have to sedate her.  He ordered a million labs today, too, but her arms are so bruised from the last draw, we decided to wait a couple of days.
We had been on a waiting list to get into the GI clinic at Seattle Children's hospital, too (changing from our local Children's Hospital) and this Neurologist cut through the red tape and made her an URGENT referral (next available appointment).  WE are SO SO SO GRATEFUL!!
At the end of the appointment, he said, "Well, Sophia...I do not want you to hurt any more like this and we are going to get to the bottom of it!"  I have to say, he is the FIRST DOCTOR that might actually MEAN IT!!  So hilarious that he looks just like my DH's demonic boss.  (SERIOUSLY...his boss is evil incarnate!)
So, again, thank you for your prayers!!  Sophia deserves to feel better and it just brings us hope to see someone take her care seriously!!
Blessings to you all!  You have no idea how dear you are to me!!!

I am definitely going to keep Sophia in my prayers each day. I am also going to pray for the doctors that they can find the underlying cause of her pain. I am glad you are finally getting the attention she needs! Big hugs to you.

Been praying that the neurologist would have great wisdom re. Sophia...looks like he was wise enough to call in help! How awesome that you might have found a doctor who may be able to find what no one else has. Praying for miracles for your family and esp. Sophia. Praying that you and DH will persevere through all these tremendous trials you are facing right now.
