The Posse

I am so grateful for everyone who has been supportive and uplifting on this forum.
You are my new posse.

When I broke with my first husband after 20 years I was worse off than now, emotionally.
I went online to find support and created a huge posse of support from a website/forum/magazine called "Why Men Are".  It is gone now but those friendships have lasted for the most part.  People from all over the US and the world.
A woman in Scotland sent me the most amazing bath products so I would go soak at night and feel better.  I talked to a young man in Portugal a lot, we became close platonic pals.  A woman in Tennessee sent me an item I won't name that requires batteries (to keep me off the streets and in the house).   This is damn funny - my father was at my house and we were appreciating my bedroom dresser, which was his as a kid.  He opened the top drawer of it to look at the construction and condition and I nearly broke his hand slamming it shut so he would not see that item.  I am thinking, Dad does not need to see THAT.  LOL

They were my posse, my get past it people back then.
And now I have you.
I am grateful.

Exactly. I am sure he thought I was nuts at that moment but man he was going into that part of my life. My dad is cool though, he might have laughed.
First time he met my college friend Norine when we were 18 for some reason a conversation about breast size came up. I would like to remember which one of us started that. My dad said to her, sweetie anything bigger than a wine glass is a waste.. Way to go Dad. We still laugh over it.

I\'m grateful for you too.

That story made me smile. I could see the same thing happening to me. It sounds about like my luck. But, if it did happen, I don\'t think I could look my Dad in the eye again. He would never let me live it down. He would have entirely too much fun teasing me about it, lol.

It was a memorable moment, let me tell ya. Those were dark days for me after he left. I needed support and was good about asking for it. I got shot at one night when I was walking the dog in my yard.(No injuries, it went into the telephone pole next to me). My house caught fire one day because of faulty electrical lines. That was a doozy. And then my basement flooded and destroyed a portion of my home. $15,000 worth of damage besides the contents I lost. I kept thinking what am I doing to bring all this on to me.
I lived through the damn DC Sniper thing in constant fear with children around me. That horror started the night of the first anniversary that my ex and I spent apart. It crippled our lives in so many ways for a while. We were afraid to leave the house or take our children to school. Cops on every corner, police state.
I got through all of that insanity so I can figure this out and move on.
We all can.

We can make it Amy, funny stories with your dad lol! That DC sniper shit was crazy I was glued to the tv every night with Sheriff Moose I believe his name was, he looked sooo tired during all that. Then come to find out the sniper and his cohort came from my neck of the woods, Seattle, go figure! They were tearing up some stump here in Seattle looking for bullet fragments and whatnot..what a nutjob. Didnt he do all that over an ex?? So it COULD be worse HAHA! Have a nice day Amy!

Coop,
I lived about 8 miles outside of DC, in Maryland. (Merry it was not, then).
I had forgotten the Seattle connection. I called the cops on a man in my neighborhood as I thought me might fit the initial profile. And others around me agreed. My husband had just left and I was terrified 24/7. Moose was indeed the man he did a fine job of handling it. Have you seen the movie about it? I have a friend who is a journalist and has become friends with the lead snipers ex-wife in the process of her work. To some degree it was about her. One evil bastard of a man. But his ex has turned it into good.
